Marvel's Avengers' most recent DLC, "Future Imperfect," has introduced many new possibilities for what could be in the game's future. Square Enix has also released a roadmap of events outlining what will be arriving in the coming months, including Black Panther DLC. With the addition of Wakanda and a new villain in Klaw, the doors are wide open for fans to speculate what other villains could make an appearance.
"Future Imperfect" sets the stage for technological, cosmic and time-based storylines, thanks to the Cosmic Cube's appearance. One particular enemy who could benefit greatly from the Avengers meddling with time is one of their deadliest foes: Kang the Conqueror. Kang is a time-traveling super genius who spreads his influence all across the timeline in his attempt to build an Empire that spans eons. He uses an arsenal of weapons from across time and an advanced suit of armor capable of super strength and energy protection. His presence is nothing short of titanic and would make a great addition to the game following the next big update.
Thanks to the Cosmic Cube's power, time appears to be heavily fractured due to the opening of a pocket time sphere in the middle of a post-apocalyptic wasteland. For now, there is no explanation as to how this could be fixed, aside from avoiding it in the past -- but Kang the Conqueror may be able to find his next opening through this time anomaly. With the Kree invasion appearing to be the larger looming threat of the series, it's possible that future DLC could prevent the invasion before it even began.
However, if one cataclysmic event is prevented, it may leave the door open for another to take its place -- something like a twisted future reality created by Kang. His appearance could also introduce a new biome that is molded after a future created by Kang. It could alter previously created maps like New York City while also introducing new ones. A Hive mission that leads to Kang's throne room or a mission in his ship would bring an exciting change to the game.
Since Kang has amassed a massive army through time, more enemies could also play a larger part in the game. Dressed similarly to him, Kang could create a whole new class of foes with even deadlier attacks that use time as a weapon freezing players for a short time. Enemies could also move to different locations incredibly fast by pausing time in their vicinity and throwing off a player's aim, similar to teleportation.
Of course, the biggest draw would be the villain sector that involves Kang. With his powerset, he could easily become one of the toughest bosses in the game. Not only do his powers grant him super-strength, but he can also project energy and force-fields that he could use to heal. His ability to control technology could also mean that he can awaken robots to attack a team. Defeating him would take an incredible amount of teamwork and coordination, as he uses time to move to various locations quickly or pause players movements long enough to deal massive damage.
For now, Marvel's Avengers is in desperate need of more comic book villains. However, with the new road map promising more variety in terms of locations and enemies, the game's future could be bright. The game has set up Kang to be a perilous threat, and with his Marvel Cinematic Universe appearance coming in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, his introduction to the game may be able to bring in even more players.
