Spider-Man will swing into Marvel's Avengers on Nov. 30.

Everyone's favorite wall-crawler was originally announced as a Sony Playstation-exclusive character for the game prior to its launch in 2020. Peter Parker will finally make his big debut in the game with the new Spider-Man: With Great Power Hero Event, which will feature new story content and challenges throughout the game's Avengers Initiative multiplayer mode. The new story missions will see Parker teaming up with Black Widow and Ms. Marvel to unravel a new plot by AIM to augment their synthoid army. Like the hero himself, the new story missions will also be exclusive to the Playstation 4 and PS5 versions of the game.

Publisher Square Enix and developer Crystal Dynamics have mostly been quiet about the character since his original announcement, as the release of updates for the game were delayed numerous times as the developers rushed to address bugs and criticisms of the game that hampered its launch. Production on the game was further slowed by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. While the title got off to a rough start, Avengers has been receiving regular content updates more frequently in recent months, with the most recent major addition being the War for Wakanda update, which added new story missions, levels, and made Black Panther a playable character on all platforms. Crystal Dynamics also rolled back its implementation of an XP Boost mechanic after it received an overwhelmingly negative reaction from the game's players.

While some other characters received fairly substantial redesigns for Marvel's Avengers, Spider-Man will appear with a fairly traditional take on his classic bright red and blue costume. Notably, the costume he wears in the game looks very similar to the character's default appearance in 2019's Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, which was developed by Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden studio Team Ninja. While some have posited that Spider-Man is exclusive to the Playstation versions of the Marvel's Avengers due to Sony's ownership of the film rights to the character, it is worth noting that multiple versions of the webhead appeared in Ultimate Alliance 3, which was published by rival video game company Nintendo exclusively for its competing Switch console.

While players on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S will have to miss out the web swinger and his story, they can still enjoy the base game and all of its other content updates through Microsoft's Game Pass service, which added the title to its library earlier this Fall.
