The next-gen conversion has finally arrived for Marvel's Avengers with improvements and a brand new DLC that not only expands the roster but also expands the game's capabilities. Right off the bat, players can experience updated graphics, smoother gameplay, and faster load times. Overall, the game feels like a much more complete version of what was experienced at launch and offers so much more for players to enjoy in terms of story.

One particular update that has made the game feel even more immersive can be found with the PlayStation 5's DualSense controller. The controller itself has the capabilities for haptic feedback vibration, makes vibrations much more intricate and reactive to the game, and adaptive triggers vary in resistance depending on the game. The haptic feedback vibrations can be felt with any character as they run or take damage, but the real change can be found in the game's adaptive triggers.

With each character, the trigger reacts differently, adding another level of distinction between the characters. For example, when playing as Captain America, the wind-up before he throws his shield can be felt with resistance that mimics its weight. It adds more heft to the throw and feels even more satisfying when it connects with an enemy. On the other hand, Black Widow's triggers change resistance depending on if she is shooting a pistol, submachine gun or rifle, like in Call of Duty.

One of the best ways that the game gives players a taste of what it's like to be one of these heroes is with the God of Thunder, Thor. Every fan knows that only those worthy can carry Mjolnir and the power of Thor. However, that doesn't mean that the hammer is light, and as players pull back on R2, it can be felt through the incredible resistance of the adaptive trigger. As Thor spins his hammer, the adaptive trigger mixed with the haptic feedback gives off a feeling that the hammer is dying to be let loose on AIM robots, and the throw feels great because of it.

Other characters that seem similar, like the two Hawkeyes, have also been given careful attention to feel distinct in more ways than gameplay. Because Kate isn't as strong as Clint, her draw pull is considerably less resistant than Hawkeye's and can be felt when pulling back on the trigger as Clint's resistance is much greater. These differences felt through the controller can be felt with every character and are encouraged to be explored in various levels and training areas.

Marvel's Avengers felt like it was made for next-gen, and while an addition like the one found in the DualSense controller may seem insignificant, it changes how the game can be played entirely. Before, fighting styles between the heroes was the best way to differentiate between characters, but now that those differences can be experienced through another means, anything is possible. Not only does it bring another fun layer to the game, but players can get excited to see how new characters will play and feel in the game and controller.
