After saving the planet from destruction time and again, the Avengers have truly proven themselves to be Earth's mightiest heroes. Unfortunately, the recent Marvel's Avengers game is not nearly as mighty as the team of heroes. While there are plenty of amazing jaw-dropping moments, overall, the game is certainly not something that Thor would call worthy.

Between the wonky controls, countless glitches, numerous missions that seem like more of a time-wasting slog than a good time, and a slew of controversies outside of the game itself, there are still plenty of reasons for fans to stick it out. This is because for all of the flaws in the game, there are so many unforgettable moments that players can not only see, but live out.

10 Bring The Thunder Down

Thor return with Mjolnir in Marvel's Avengers game

Thor is the God of Thunder. He literally fights with the divine might to smite his enemies. While players briefly get to use his powers in the game's opening fight scenes, this is a relatively scaled down version of Thor.

Thor is actually one of the last members to rejoin the team, but he returns with a roar of thunder that brings people to their knees. Wielding the mystical hammer Mjolnir, he lights up the sky with his divine might, smashing through hordes of enemies with the might of god. Be sure to unleash your inner Asgardian during this brief moment.

9 Reassemble Tony Stark's Old Janky Armor

Tony Stark gets Mach I Iron Man glove in Marvel's Avengers

It goes without saying that Iron Man is a futurist. His entire power is basically using his wealth to build high-tech suits of armor to overcompensate for his human limitations. In fact, from alien invaders to killer robots, there is no problem Tony Stark cannot build a mech suit to overcome.

But when players first reconnect with Tony Stark, the only armor he has left is his original Mark I -- and it's in pieces! Assembling the gauntlet, boots, and other piecemeal platemaille while being attacked by AIM synthoids makes for one of the scrappiest fights of the game, but it's worth it just to see the old sport back in one piece.

8 Whip Out The Hulkbuster Armor

Every character has their own unique special abilities, from Hulk smashing things to Ms. Marvel embiggening herself into a giant kaiju-esque fangirl. But by far the best power-up ability is Iron Man using his Hulkbuster suit to absolutely destroy his enemies.

In a fun twist of fate, during many of the early levels where he can use this power, Iron Man fights alongside The Hulk. This makes for the extra fun experience of Avengers teaming up to Hulk out and smash everything in their path.

7 Punch Someone From A Distance

Ms. Marvel has the ability to stretch her body, something which considerably limits her ranged fighting capabilities. Unlike her fellow heroes, she does not have access to energy beams or lightning or miniaturized guns. So how does she hit an enemy who is twenty feet away? Why, with her fists, of course!

Players gain this ability fairly early on, but there is something more that makes it special. Of all the unique play styles and mechanics, Ms. Marvel probably has the most fun combat system, and one reason is that she can punch airborne drones out of the sky. When you have to kill fast and bullets are too slow, Kamala always has her fists to rely on.

6 Go Boulder Sniping With The Hulk

Believe it or not, the other Avenger with an awesome ranged attack aside from Ms. Marvel is The Hulk. Seriously. Against all discernible logic, The Hulk -- the guy who just screams and smashes things in a temper tantrum of green raging fists -- is an expert of ranged combat.

For ranged attacks, Hulk just picks up huge boulders and hurls them at his enemies. However, if one ever gets tired of throwing car-sized chunks of rock at their opponents, then there is another great way to hit them from afar: just pick up one enemy and lob him like a catapult stone at his friends!

5 Go On A Space Adventure

Obviously, the Avengers are Earth's mightiest heroes. But what happens when they are no longer on Earth? To find out, players should stick it out and go on an adventure beyond Earth's orbit!

Some of the most memorable moments in the game take place when the Avengers go to outer space. Without giving away too many spoiler-filled details, there is a twist that changes the entire direction of the game, as well as a long overdue reunion with an old friend.

4 Complete Missions In A Limited Time

Many missions in the game appear for only a short period of a day or so. Most such missions are straightforward and not too complex, but there is something incredibly fun about completing an adventure within the short time frame it is possible to do so.

What makes this better is that if you succeed in this challenge, you get to be one of only a small handful of players from all over the world who pulled this off.

3 Join the Resistance

Kamala Khan spent years looking for a rumored group of inhuman Resistance fighters striking back against AIM's takeover. Every time she thought she found a stronghold or base belonging to this underground force, it was abandoned, causing her to give up all hope.

And in that darkest moment, the light of the Resistance shone upon her, guiding her to them. The missions where the young Ms. Marvel fights for the Resistance basically serves as wish fulfillment for every teenager who ever dreamed of serving in Dumbledore's Army from the Harry Potter saga or overthrowing the evil Panem government in the Hunger Games series.

2 Smash Literally Everything

Hulk smash Abomination fight Marvel's Avengers

This is not a complex or nuanced idea. The Hulk smashes things. Cars. Tanks. People. Entire laboratories filled with expensive-looking science equipment. AIM robots and the dudes inside them.

Hulk smashes everything. So why stop playing when you've only smashed maybe half of the game world and enemies? The simple joy of unleashing furious unfettered destruction never gets old.

1 Parkour Literally Everywhere

Kamala Khan Ms Marvel parkour swinging from helicarrier guns battle with AIM

This final example was actually introduced early in the game, but it has so many applications that it is worth using in every chance possible. Kamala Khan's stretchy arms allow her to parkour across the New York skyline, but that's just the start of it. Parkour is the art of moving beautifully and effectively through an environment. Kamala is great at it, hurling through trees, vaulting over rocky desert terrain, swinging from the guns of a helicarrier in flight, showing off just how free and how awesome she really is as she defies the limits of gravity.

Marvel's Avengers is far from being a perfect game, but any game that understands the sheer joy of going through an environment in such an excitable manner is clearly doing something right.
