Marvel's Avengers revealed a new spooky skin for Captain America, which will transform the American superhero into a howling Capwolf just in time for Halloween.

A picture of the Capwolf skin, along with its comic inspiration, was posted on the official Twitter account for Marvel's Avengers. The image shows Steve Rogers bursting out of his iconic star-spangled outfit as he turns into a terrifying wolfman, complete with sharp teeth, claws and fur. The accompanying tweet announced that the new Captain America costume would become available to purchase as part of the game's upcoming Marketplace update on Oct. 21. It is currently unknown how many credits of the game's currency the Capwolf skin will cost.

In the corner of the Marvel's Avengers photo is the cover art for Captain America #405, an issue from a 1992 comic book series written by Mark Gruenwald and Rik Levins which sees the titular hero transform into a werewolf. The alteration begins when Captain America begins to investigate the disappearance of Colonel John Jameson, leading him to Dredmund, the Demon Druid, who injects Cap with his werewolf serum. Due to his Super Soldier abilities, Cap becomes a werewolf in appearance only, retaining his mental control.

Last month, a Captain America skin was released for Marvel's Avengers, which also saw the patriot don an extra bit of hair. As part of Marvel's Avengers' initiative to add Marvel Cinematic Universe-inspired costumes to its Marketplace, the skin was based on Captain America's appearance in Infinity War, sporting a grizzled beard and worn outfit after he went on the run following the events of Captain America: Civil War. This was Captain America's second MCU skin in Marvel's Avengers, following his classic outfit from the original 2012 Avengers film.

Meanwhile, one recent Marketplace addition has caused Marvel's Avengers a great deal of controversy. After initially promising to keep the game's microtransactions exclusively for cosmetic items, developer Square Enix announced in a blog post earlier this month that Consumables would be available to purchase with real-world currency. These Consumables allow players to receive experience points and upgrade resources at a higher rate. Fans have expressed frustration with Marvel's Avengers, which had already been accused of not living up to developers' initial promises.

Marvel's Avengers and its most recent expansion War for Wakanda are available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.
