Crystal Dynamics, the developer behind Marvel's Avengers, revealed how many skins players will be able to equip to the game's latest hero Spider-Man.

Confirmed through a hands-on preview conducted by IGN, Spider-Man brings with him approximately 40 unique skins. These outfits, much like the other playable characters in Marvel's Avengers, are drawn from a variety of appearances throughout the character's history. These costumes won't be versions exclusive to Peter Parker; one of the recently highlighted designs is Spider-Man Noir, suggesting further multiverse designs will also be available.

Yet while fans of the character are no doubt looking forward to these various costumes, there is a small catch. While many of the designs can be unlocked by simply playing the game and completing Spider-Man's Hero Challenge card, others will be gated behind a premium currency. Crystal Dynamics has yet to reveal which suits will function as microtransactions. Given Marvel's Avengers' history, Peter Parker's Marvel Cinematic Universe costumes will likely require premium currency to unlock.

Beyond the pantheon of suits Spider-Man is bringing to Marvel's Avengers, details on the character's moveset are still sparse. Crystal Dynamics has confirmed some of Peter's abilities, which often rely on webbing up enemies, but the minutia of his skills will likely be revealed closer to the character's debut. As for what players can expect from the "With Great Responsibility" Hero Event, Spider-Man will be forced to cautiously trust the Avengers as they work together to take down AIM. Throughout the narrative, Peter learns to trust Earth's Mightiest Heroes and eventually comes to accept them as friends.

"Peter Parker learns of a deadly new threat and must partner with the Avengers to stop AIM from acquiring technology that could make their synthoid army unstoppable," reads the description of the event. "Insistent on keeping his identity hidden, Parker forms a tentative friendship with Ms. Marvel and Black Widow and must struggle with the new dynamics of working with a team. Will he join up full time with the Avengers, or stay independent in his fight against AIM?"

Spider-Man's impending arrival is an exciting time for fans of Marvel's Avengers but not everyone is pleased with how Crystal Dynamics is handling the release of the character. The Web-Head will only be available to players on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, making him the only console-exclusive character. The decision to lock Peter Parker to a specific system has frustrated long-time players who have expressed concerns that it will divide the playerbase.

Spider-Man finally arrives in Marvel's Avengers on Nov. 30.
