Beginning the promotional build-up to the fall debut of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., ABC has released the first in a series of "Level 7 Access" videos introducing the drama's cast of characters. First up is Brett Dalton's Agent Grant Ward.

"Agent Ward is a black-ops specialist," the actor says. "Anything that involves reconnaissance skills of, like, a military nature, he is brilliant at. But he's just not so great with the people skills."

Created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, the series centers on a highly selected team of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents assembled by Clark Gregg's Phil Coulson to investigate "the new, the strange and the unknown" across the globe.

Marvel is pulling out the stops for the July 19 Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. panel at Comic-Con International, going so far as to take over San Diego trolleys during the convention (below).

Airing this fall Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. also stars Ming-Na as Agent Melina May, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Gemma Simmons, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz and Chloe Bennett as Skye.
