One of the showrunners for the upcoming Marvel's 616 anthology on Disney+ has likened each of the series' episodes to an individual, standalone movie.

"The idea of the anthology aspect is using each episode as a way of telling a singular story," said co-executive producer Jason Sterman in Comic-Con@Home's "A Look Inside Marvel's 616 on Disney+" virtual panel. "Each of these episodes kind of acts as its own individual film."

"We really wanted to bring in filmmakers who had a unique voice and unique vision," Sterman said, "And let them play within this universe by finding stories they were impassioned about -- something that piqued their interest."

"That leads into the anthology aspect being utilized in the best way, by each episode being its own journey through this Marvel Universe. Each one is being directed by a filmmaker who's bringing something to it that's different."

Marvel's 616 is an eight-episode documentary series focusing on various unexplored corners and characters of the Marvel Universe, and the creators both responsible and inspired by them.

"There will be multiple entry points within this series, and every single episode, whether it's the genre, the theme, the tone, the execution -- all of them are different, so there will definitely be something for everyone."

Produced by Marvel New Media with Supper Club, Marvel's 616 airs this fall on Disney+.
