The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel's Story So Far

Created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel follows Miriam "Midge" Maisel, a housewife whose life was turned upside down when she discovered her husband, Joel Maisel, was cheating on her. She got drunk and performed a raw stand up act in a bar that got her in touch with Susie Myerson, who eventually became Midge's manager.

She had a rough time starting off in the stand up game, as she was a woman in the late '50s, but she eventually worked her way up to opening for superstar Shy Baldwin (LeRoy McClain). She toured North America with the musician and started gaining a following and a promise to follow Shy on his European tour. However, after almost revealing Shy's sexuality during her final night in America, Shy banned her from joining him, leaving Midge crying on the runway, hurt by the missed opportunity and the loss of a good friend.

Meanwhile, Susie suffered from a crisis of her own as their trip to Las Vegas ignited a gambling addiction within her. This addiction reached a point where Susie lost all of the money Midge made during her tour. Luckily, by Season 3's end, Midge is unaware of this disaster but could find some comfort knowing that Susie gave all financial control to Joel, believing she cannot be trusted to hold onto her client's money, in fear of gambling it away.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel's Season 4 Story Details and Cast Updates

Following the Shy Baldwin incident, Midge is sick and tired of only being an opener and constantly having to walk on eggshells. She knows that she is at her best when she is in her purest uncut and uncensored self, comparing herself to Lenny Bruce. With this, she demands that Susie make her a headliner. Season 4 will follow Midge as she takes her new step forward as a stand up comic and gets the "Lenny Bruce" treatment she has always deserved.

Abe and Rose Weissman are taking a step forward themselves as the second trailer reveals that Midge will ask them to move in with her. However, the ever proud Weissmans try to flip the story and plan to tell people that they were the ones who bought the apartment and are inviting her to stay. The trailer goes on to show the Weissmans attempt to get back to their lives before everything came crashing down and they were forced to be roommates with the Maisels.
