WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Marvel Zombies Resurrection #3 by Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Leonard Kirk, Rachelle Rosenberg, and VC's Travis Lanham, available now.

There are specific members of the Marvel Universe who, if infected by something like the zombie virus, can single-handily lead to the destruction of all things in their universe. Marvel Zombies: Resurrection has featured the fallout of one such infection, with the corruption of Galactus leading to the destruction of an entire reality. But now, the Brood-Zombie Horde have an even more dangerous convert.

By infecting the long-time New Mutant Magik with their strain of an undead virus, the Brood of Marvel Zombies: Resurrection may have found a way to spread their influence through the entire multiverse.

After making their way to the remains of Atlantis, Spider-Man and his band of survivors try to find the heart of the former human outpost. After making their way through a host of zombified Atlanteans, Spider-Man and the other survivors venture into the base itself. Among the sprawled messages left on the walls are mentions of "the world behind the world" and "Blackspring." After discovering Wolverine -- somehow still alive despite the sheer number of monsters that were his friends -- the group realizes too late that Atlantis was just a trap for Franklin Richards. The zombified Magik uses her teleportation powers to bring the survivors to "Blackspring", now revealed to be the new term for Limbo.

The hellish dimension has long been associated with Magik -- when she was a child, Illyana Rasputin was lost in Limbo and separated from the X-Men. While moments passed in the real world, Magik spent seven years fighting, surviving, and training in dark magic. She's become the Queen of Limbo over the years, although she typically despises the realm. But now, infected with a Brood-derived strain of the zombie virus, Magik and the corrupted Silver Surfer have turned Limbo into the staging ground of a planned multiversal invasion. From Limbo, Magik and the rest of the undead horde known as the Galactus Hive can move beyond their ravaged world with her teleportation and spread their virus to other realities across the multiverse.

If unleashed, they could spread their disease to every corner of the multiverse -- spreading their own version of the Gospel of Hunger, much like the maddened Reed Richards of the original Marvel Zombies wanted to do. The revelation that these undead beings are off-shoots of the Brood explains why they've been so ravenous and ruthless, carrying over the traits of the brutal species into the future. But with the use of Magik's powers, the virus could easily spread. Even more so than super-speedsters like Quicksilver, Magik's dimensional teleportation could turn this virus into a threat to every universe, similar to the Cancer-Verse from Annihilation: Scourge or the Poisons from Venomverse.

The ability to infect others with the disease makes it all the more fearsome, especially if it does manage to spread to even one more universe. With only a handful of heroes left, the world of Marvel Zombies: Resurrection already looked pretty doomed. But now, it may end up dragging down the rest of the multiverse with it.
