WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Marvel Zombies: Resurrection #2 by Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Leonard Kirk, Rachelle Rosenberg, & VC's Travis Lanham, on sale now.

The spread of the Marvel Zombies virus is always a fearsome prospect -- especially in it's newest form, connecting the infected hordes to the Galactus Hive. However, it turns out that there's a specific kind of life-form that's actually impervious to the effects of the undead virus.

While making their way through a ravaged version of the Marvel Universe in Marvel Zombies: Resurrection #2, Spider-Man and the rest of the survivors encountered the Machine Coalition, an unlikely collection of mechanical heroes and villains. Now, we're taking a closer look at which robotic figures survived this version of the zombie virus and what happens to them when the Galactus Hive reaches them.

While flying in hunt of the Galactus Hive, the small group of survivors -- Peter Parker, Franklin and Valeria Richards, Blade and Captain Marvel's pet Chewie -- end up passing over the Phalanx Wall. The newly constructed structure has become the base of operation for the "Ennow," the Non-Organics. As a coalition of the last remaining tech-based heroes and villains, this cybernetic horde has proven impervious to the zombie plague that has ravaged the rest of the world's population. However, they're still able to be torn apart and destroyed by the corrupted heroes. When Nana is brought down though by some of the passing hordes, the group finds themselves surrounded not just by the undead but the robotic armies of Ennow.

The group is actually saved by the robotic force, who are made up of a mix of heroes and villains: Machine Man is treated as something of a leader of the group, having shed seemingly almost all of his former humanity. Former X-Men foe Nimrod personally saves the group with well-placed laser blasts. A Doom-Bot is among the group, quickly following the orders of Machine Man and the group's apparent second-in-command, Viv Vision. Viv is shown to be the only one of the robots with much of their humanity still in-tact, with her cold exterior logic being stalled by her painful memories of being with Miles Morales when he fell to the zombie plague.

The most surprising survivors are Punisher and Strong Guy of the X-Men. Formerly flesh and bone, the two are revealed to have been among the ones who willingly gave themselves over to the Phalanx rather than be consumed and corrupted by the Galactus Hive. The group is recused by the robots, but they quickly reveal their plans to force them through the same techno-organic bonding process that the other survivors they've found had to undergo. Luckily for the heroes -- but unluckily for the mechanical coalition -- a massive wave of the Galactus Horde spearheaded by the corrupted Hulk attack the Phalanx Wall, quickly tearing it apart.

Machine Man is seen ripped to pieces in the initial assault, and only Viv Vision initially seems to escape alongside Peter and the other survivors. However, Viv is forced to stay behind to stop the corrupted Hulk from reaching her friends, leaving her fate ambiguous. While it's possible Viv and some of the other robots may have escaped -- Viv especially may have been able to use her phasing abilities to avoid the Galactus Hive -- this means one of the few powers still left on the world to fight the zombie hordes has been overrun and destroyed. While the Machine Coalition may have been helpful in Valeria's attempts to undo the effects of the virus ravaging humanity, now it appears the survivors are once again on their own.
