For someone who talked about what a loner he was, Wolverine always was very good at making a lot of friends. Most people look at his time in the X-Men as the time when he really opened up but even before that, Wolverine still made a lot of friends, whether it be as a soldier, a secret agent, or a feral beast running through the backwoods of Canada.

Wolverine has always been a magnetic fellow, even with his gruff attitude and violent ways. However, some of his friends are closer than others and he would do anything for them... and vice versa. Let's take a look at the people Wolverine would do anything for.

10 Spider-Man

For a long time, Wolverine and Spider-Man did not like each other. They were very different men- Wolverine was the short tempered brawler and Spider-Man the happy go lucky hero quipping as he fought some of New York's deadliest villains. They came to blows several times but eventually, they bonded during their time as Avengers.

Both men have deep wells of pain from their pasts and that solidified their friendship. While they definitely will still give each other a hard time, they're close friends.

9 Captain America

Wolverine and Captain America met during World War II but wouldn't encounter each other again for many years. At the time, Cap was the ultimate inspiring leader and Wolverine was his violent, gruff self. Suffice it to say things were tense between them; Cap didn't like Wolverine's tendency to kill and when Iron Man brought upbringing Wolverine on to the Avengers, Cap was against it.

However, Wolverine was always very respectful towards Cap and the two men bonded over their shared experiences as soldiers from an older time. Cap would come to trust Wolverine and vice versa and the two men would have a friendship that neither would have thought possible before.

8 Professor X

Professor X took a chance with Wolverine. At the time, the feral mutant was with Alpha Flight with no memory of his past. Professor X brought him into the X-Men when he was still half a beast and worked with him, trying to help Wolverine exorcise the demons of his past. The X-Men became a family to Wolverine and it was because of the chance Xavier took.

Professor X has gotten down to some shady things over the years but for the most part, Wolverine has always backed him up, always been there when the Professor needed him. The world's most powerful telepath sometimes needs some muscle and that's Wolverine.

7 Cyclops

Cyclops and Wolverine have long had a contentious relationship. The two men butted heads repeatedly over the years during their time with the X-Men. When the X-Men moved to Utopia post-M-Day, Wolverine and Cyclops worked closely together until they came to blows over a disagreement. Their relationship has had a lot of ups and downs over the years, but they always respected each other.

When it comes right down to it, the two men would do anything for each other. They may complain about it but they have a bond that most people would never understand.

6 Colossus

Colossus was always the powerhouse of the X-Men but his massive steel frame hid the heart of an artist, a gentle man who grew up on a farm and loved his family. He and Wolverine were very different men and yet they bonded with each other, forming a friendship that would be a huge help to both men over the years.

The two men would go out drinking, getting into barfights and carousing. On the battlefield, they invented their own move, the fastball special. Both men found a confidant in the other that neither would have expected and they remain the best of friends.

5 Kitty Pryde

Wolverine took the young Kitty Pryde under his wing when she first joined the X-Men. He taught her how to fight and looked out for her, helping her become one of the most formidable fighters on the team. For years, their relationship was one where Wolverine was the older, wiser one and Kitty was the learner but as time went on, they became equals and the best of friends.

They would do anything for each other and go to any lengths for the other. There's is a relationship of no questions asked; if either needs help, the other will be there for them immediately.

4 Jubilee

Jubilee is another young mutant Wolverine took under her wing. Coming to the team a loudmouth mallrat, Jubilee immediately gravitated to Wolverine and he took to her just as well. They were an inseparable team- where ever Wolverine went, Jubilee would follow.

Wolverine was always Jubilee's older brother she never had. Wolverine taught her everything she needed to know about being a hero and she took those lessons with her where ever she went, eventually passing her knowledge on as a mentor for a new Generation X. The two know they can always depend on each other.

3 Nightcrawler

Nightcrawler and Wolverine are a lot more alike than they would seem. Both men are tough fighters, although Nightcrawler doesn't take it as far as Wolverine does. More importantly, both men understand what it's like for others to think they're monsters and this is where they really bonded. It also helped that both men enjoyed a good beer.

Nightcrawler and Wolverine's friendship is the stuff of legend. The two men could spend years apart and when they meet up again, it's like no time at all has passed. There are few friendships on the X-Men as close as theirs.

2 Storm

Storm and Wolverine have a very different relationship than he does with other members of the X-Men. It's more of a relationship of equals than any of the others, although, with her history, it's really Storm who is better than Wolverine. He knows this, though, and the fact that she cares about him as much she does speaks a lot to him.

Storm and Wolverine's relationship is that of two people who have been in the trenches together and understand each other intimately. Each of them brings something different to their relationship but one thing is for certain- nothing could ever drive them apart.

1 Jean Grey

Wolverine has always been in love with Jean Grey and for her part, Jean loves him too. Even when she was Cyclops, there was always something between them. She was his ideal and he was the bad boy she craved. Over the years, their friendship has grown into something very special, the kind of relationship that others would kill for.

They would walk through Hell for each other. Their mutual respect, admiration, and love have given them an unbreakable bond.
