This morning started off on a rather interesting note when Marvel Comics seemingly suffered a data breach revealing in-universe details about the upcoming one-shot Wolverine & Captain America: Weapon Plus #1. Of course, said data breach was planned by the publisher to release interior art and a variant for the one-shot.

Wolverine & Captain America: Weapon Plus #1 was announced back in April and is slated to be released July 10. It was revealed in April that the series will connect the lives of Wolverine and Captain America, both of whom received their powers as a result of bafflingly irresponsible scientific experimentation on humans and mutants.

At the time, cover art depicted the two Marvel characters being subjected to the same Weapon Plus experimentation, and today’s art shows them side by side once again, though this time Wolverine has, unsurprisingly, taken a beating.

How exactly this will play out in the one-shot is anyone’s guess, but given that Fantomex is also involved, it likely won’t be a straightforward, linear affair. A variant cover also reveals an army of creepy Captain Americas going up against Wolverine and the actual Captain America. It’s unclear if this cover is taking significant artistic license, or if we’re in for one heck of a ride.

The in-universe teaser this morning stated that more information on the series will be released June 17. Wolverine & Captain America: Weapon Plus #1 goes on sale July 10. The issue is written by Ethan Sacks. Diogenes Neves is the issue artist. Federico Blee handles coloring for the comic and Adriano Di Benedetto will ink it.
