A What If...? Funko Pop! bobblehead reveals Killmonger will become King of Wakanda on the animated Disney+ series.

An image of the figure leaked onto Reddit, offering a sneak peek at "King Killmonger." In addition to wearing the Black Panther armor reserved for Wakanda's ruler, the character is depicted holding what appears to be Ultron's severed head.

Based on the Marvel comic book anthology series, What If...? explores alternate timelines within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Jeffrey Wright's Uatu/The Watcher serving as the audience's guide. Among the confirmed scenarios examined on the show is one where Prince T'Challa, rather than Peter Jason Quill, is picked up by the Ravagers and becomes Star-Lord. That said, it remains to be seen if Killmonger takes up the Black Panther mantle in T'Challa's absence or if he's crowned "King Killmonger" in a separate episode/story.

Along with bringing back Michael B. Jordan as Erik "Killmonger" Stevens from 2018's Black Panther, the What If...? TV show will mark the final MCU appearance for Chadwick Boseman, who recorded voice work for multiple episodes of the series. Boseman originated the role of T'Challa in 2016's Captain America: Civil War and went on to reprise the hero in three more MCU films, prior to his death from colon cancer at age 43 in Aug. 2020.

Jordan and Boseman are but one of the many actors bringing their MCU characters to animated life on What If...? They will feature in a variety of storylines, including one in which Peggy Carter takes the Super Soldier Serum -- transforming her into "Captain Carter" -- and another one where Stephen Strange becomes a super-villain who's known as Doctor Strange Supreme.

A separate toy leak for the show confirmed Iron Man will appear in a What If...? story that takes him to the planet Sakaar from 2017's Thor: Rangarok, bringing him face to face with the likes of Valkyrie and The Grandmaster. However, despite what Jeff Goldblum (who plays The Grandmaster) previously claimed, Robert Downey Jr. is not expected to reprise his role as Tony Stark for the episode.

Created by A.C. Bradley and directed by Bryan Andrews, What If...? stars Jeffrey Wright, Samuel L. Jackson, Hayley Atwell, Chadwick Boseman, Tom Hiddleston, Michael Rooker, Chris Hemsworth, Dominic Cooper, Jeremy Renner and more. The series premieres in August on Disney+.
