Fans now have an idea of which month this summer the Marvel Studios animated series What If? will make its premiere on Disney+.

According to Entertainment Weekly's Summer 2021 TV PreviewWhat If? will debut in August, making it the first animated series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  The anthology borrows from the comic of the same name, which features stories set in an alternate universe where familiar aspects of the Marvel Universe are changed. For example, some of the tales in What If? will see Peggy Carter gain the super-soldier serum instead of Steve Rogers, transforming her into Captain Britain; Black Panther -- voiced by the late Chadwick Boseman -- replacing Peter Quill as the space pirate Star-Lord, and a world where Earth's Mightiest Heroes have been turned into zombies.

Recently leaked merchandise for What If? has introduced "Party Thor," on a t-shirt, thor the concept art of the God of Thunder still resembles Chris Hemsworth. Another piece of What If? ?concept art also sees the return of classic heroes and villains such as Ultron and the Collector.

The next MCU series set to premiere on Disney+ is Loki, which foregoing the typical Friday release for Wednesdays, starting June 9.

Created by A.C. Bradley and directed by Bryan Andrews, What If...? stars Jeffrey Wright, Samuel L. Jackson, Hayley Atwell, Chadwick Boseman, Tom Hiddleston, Michael Rooker, Chris Hemsworth, Dominic Cooper, Jeremy Renner and more. The series premieres in August on Disney+.
