It's easy to forget the key place the Wasp holds in Marvel Comics, primarily due to her diminutive size when she's in hero mode. Alongside Thor, Iron Man, Ant-Man and Hulk, Wasp was a founding member of the Avengers. She's been in the game as long as some of Marvel's biggest players.

Wasp has been in more than her fair share of fights, and has never backed down from anyone larger than her. Which is pretty much everyone. But the DC Universe is a much different game.

10 LOSE TO: Cheetah

Possibly Wonder Woman's greatest nemesis is Cheetah. While there have been a few villains to use the name, the one most people are familiar with is Barbara Ann Minerva, an archaeologist and heiress who gained the powers after taking the place of a slain guardian of an African tribe. Cheetah has enhanced strength, speed, agility and reflexes. She also has incredibly powerful senses, including night vision. These abilities make her an incredible fighter and hunter, able to take down prey of any size.

9 SQUASH: Mirror Master

Mirror Master With Flash's Worried Reaction Reflected In Many Mirrors

Like the Cheetah, more than one person has used the villainous moniker over the years but the game has remained largely the same. As the name suggests, Mirror Master uses mirrors in battle that produce an array of devastating effects, including invisibility, holograms and transportation. He can even jump between a reflective surface as well as to other realities and dimensions.

While Mirror Master has impressive abilities, he still wouldn't see a hero with the experience of the Wasp coming.

8 LOSE TO: Scarecrow

DC Comics Scarecrow

Scarecrow is not one to get into a straight-up fight with anyone. He's more of a behind the scenes type, manipulating everything going on to get an advantage. But if a hero does have the misfortune of having to face Scarecrow one on one, that hero can expect to get pumped full of fear toxins. Wasp would be no exception to this, regardless of what size she took. Scarecrow would destroy her mind, then kill her.

7 SQUASH: Solomon Grundy

Solomon Grundy rises out of the swamp in DC Comics

A lot of people might think this is insane given the power levels Solomon Grundy is believed to have but the Wasp could take him in a fight. Grundy is strong and virtually indestructible, and is seemingly impervious to most forms of attack. That includes magic as well as energy and physical attacks.

But the Wasp doesn't need to destroy him to defeat him. She just needs to get rid of him. Since Grundy is so tough, Wasp wouldn't feel bad about maxing out her size to its largest and drop kicking him into orbit.

6 LOSE TO: Poison Ivy

Poison Ivy is a nasty piece of work, which is why she's in the top tier of Batman's rogues gallery. She has the ability to control people, particularly men, with her enhanced pheromones. But Ivy's greatest power is her ability to control plants, growing them at incredible rates and making them more powerful. At Wasp's smallest size, Ivy could easily manifest a plant that could destroy her. The same is true if Wasp increases in size. Poison Ivy has a deadly plant for any occasion.

5 SQUASH: Captain Boomerang

When you're an expert with throwing weapons, you can give almost anyone a run for their money in a fight. That includes Captain Boomerang, a long-standing member of Flash's rogues gallery. Despite having a name you'd expect to belong to an Australian children's entertainer, Captain Boomerang is incredibly dangerous.

He carries a range of specialized boomerangs that he throws with pinpoint accuracy. But it's hard to hit what you can't see coming, a problem he's run into with Flash more than a few times and he would again with the diminutive Wasp.

4 LOSE TO: Mr. Freeze

On the other hand, Mr. Freeze doesn't need to be able to see something to encase it in ice. While he doesn't specifically have powers, he does have a near-genius intellect that has allowed him to develop powerful weaponry. This includes his freeze gun as well as a refrigeration suit that maintains his unique physiology while giving him superhuman strength and endurance. As impressive as Wasp is in combat, it's hard to fight when you're frozen.

3 SQUASH: Giganta

Giganta sneering in DC Comics

Wonder Woman has often had her hands full with Giganta. The size-changing villain can grow to hundreds of feet in height, with strength and durability to match. It would be tempting for Wasp to grow in size to match her, a devastating battle of literal giants. But that's not where Wasp has her beat. Instead of going big, Wasp could go small.

Since Giganta strength only kicks in as she grows, a miniscule Wasp would be even harder to spot. She might even be able to enter Giganta's head via her ear and hit her with her Wasp's sting from the inside.

2 LOSE TO: Gorilla Grodd

Gorilla Grodd crushing a human skull

Gorilla Grodd is a hard matchup for any hero. This super intelligent, powerful gorilla is as dangerous a villain as you'll find in any universe. Add his devastating telepathic powers into his already formidable abilities, and you are trapped in an uphill battle to win this fight. On her own, Wasp would be hard-pressed to survive facing off against Grodd, let alone winning the bout. But that's true of almost any superhero in any comic book universe.

1 SQUASH: Joker

The Clown Prince of Crime is used to dealing with Batman, a well-trained fighter with a keen mind and a utility belt full of gadgets. Wasp would be a whole different situation for him. She's also intelligent and well trained, but it's her size-changing that would drive him nuts. Joker would develop a trap or a plan that would cover Wasp in her smallest from and even be impervious to her sting. Then, she would go super huge and ruin everything. Wasp would keep Joker guessing and that would be infuriating for him.
