WandaVision star and Vision actor Paul Bettany has no idea when or if he will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In an interview with The Playlist, Bettany admitted that he doesn't have a contract for more MCU projects after WandaVision, stating "And all that I do know is, as far as this sort of traunch of press goes, it’s for an Emmy push, which is for a limited series. So it doesn’t look like [WandaVision Season 2 is] happening... I mean, I guess it would be difficult to introduce White Vision and not deal with him in some way, but we have not discussed that."

WandaVision, as Bettany mentioned, ended with the introduction of White Vision, an all-white reassembled version of Vision constructed by S.W.O.R.D. The finale pitted the character against the magically resurrected Vision in Westview, culminating in the latter restoring White Vision's memories. White Vision then took off for places unknown, leaving his ultimate fate up in the air.

This isn't the first time Bettany has been in a position like this. In a previous interview, the actor revealed there were originally plans for 2019's Avengers: Endgame to include a post-credits scene signaling Vision's revival after his death in 2018's Avenger: Infinity War. "At one point there was going to be a tag where [Wanda] opened a sort of body bag drawer and there was The Vision," Bettany explained. However, when Marvel Studios President and Marvel Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige decided not to film it, Bettany admitted he was "10-15% sure" his time in the MCU was over, prior to meeting with Feige to discuss WandaVision.

For now, it's unclear whether Marvel Studios intends to pick up the White Vision plot thread in Phase 4 of the MCU or revisit it somewhere else down the line (if at all). As for Bettany's WandaVision costar Elizabeth Olsen, she will reprise her role as the Scarlet Witch in 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Written by Jac Schaeffer and directed by Matt Shakman, WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Kathryn Hahn as Agnes. The full series is streaming on Disney+.
