Marvel's Midnight Suns has been generating considerable buzz ever since more details were released. The combination of the Marvel comics universe and strategy game legends Firaxis Games looks set to give players the chance to control their favorite superheroes in epic battles.

One part of the game that appeals to many is its focus on the supernatural and darker side of the Marvel comics world. This aspect has been, at best, a side attraction in the enormous Marvel Cinematic Universe. Between this focus and the wide range of playable heroes already shown, there are some villains fans are hoping will appear.

10 Baron Mordo Can Get His Time To Shine

A prominent figure in the cast of Midnight Suns is Doctor Strange, the Sorcerer Supreme, and one of Marvel's most popular supernatural heroes. He has a large rogues' gallery that cannot all factor into the game, but Baron Karl Mordo is one of the more popular and perhaps best-fitting for Midnight Suns.

After a promising appearance in 2016's Doctor Strange that became little more than a punchline and a cameo in Multiverse of Madness, fans of the character may be hoping he gets his dues, and the game may provide a chance for just that. At a suitable power level to fight many of the game's characters, Mordo could provide an entertaining early-game challenge.

9 Doctor Doom Is One Of Marvel's Most Powerful Sorcerers

An aspect of Doctor Doom often overlooked outside the comic books is that he is an immensely powerful sorcerer, rather than just a mere genius. Although his most frequent foes are the technology-focused Fantastic Four, Doom takes time away from running his own country and being a global menace to wield immense and powerful magics.

As one of Marvel's most iconic villains, Doom could slot into almost any adaptation. Although the Fantastic Four are not confirmed for Midnight Suns, Doom has had dealings with other characters in the game, including Scarlet Witch.

8 Morgan Le Fay Could Fit Right Into The Game

Many of Marvel's more supernatural characters have been left out of the MCU. Still, one that has made a recent appearance in Runaways is Morgan le Fay, the notorious sorceress from the Arthurian myth. Even outside of her powerset, Le Fay has plenty of overlap with the cast.

She has been a villain for Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, and Runaways member Nico Minoru, among others. So giving her a chance to face off against them again, whether as a willing servant of Lilith or a mind-controlled puppet, could be a treat for fans of her other appearances.

7 Mephisto Could Make For A Seriously High-Level Threat

The exact power level of Midnight Suns is unclear, but it looks to be towards the higher end of things. Characters like Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, Iron Man, and Ghost Rider are confirmed as playable, suggesting that the game will throw some seriously threatening villains at the player.

Mephisto may be beyond even that scale, but as one of the biggest supernatural threats in Marvel, he could make for an impressive endgame boss. Having been a foe of Spider-Man and Ghost Rider, Doctor Strange, and having had interactions with others in the game's cast, he looks like a reasonably likely addition.

6 Magneto Could Add Some Tragedy To The Game's Villains

Midnight Suns focuses on the supernatural over other aspects of the Marvel universe, but has at least three X-Men in its cast in the form of Wolverine, Scarlet Witch, and Magik. As such, more mutants and related characters could appear in the game as heroes and villains. An enduringly beloved villain with personal ties to the cast is Erik Lehnsherr, Magneto himself.

Magneto is a complex, humanized anti-villain, and one not likely to support Lilith's goal to resurrect Chthon. However, pre-release materials have shown Lilith controlling the minds of other characters, up to and including the Incredible Hulk. The game also has plenty of villains not associated with the supernatural, such as Rhino and Venom.

5 Zadkiel Is An Obscure, Dangerous Foe

One benefit of a video game like Midnight Suns, which promises to throw lots of villains at the player, is that it can give more obscure and less well-known characters a chance to shine. For example, Zadkiel is a dark angel from Marvel's more divine roster, and a recent foe of Ghost Rider.

A ruthless and dark foe, Zadkiel could provide a side threat, one not overtly related to Lilith's goals. Instead, he could seek to carry out his own agenda, fighting either for Heaven or himself, or look to settle his score with Ghost Rider.

4 Shuma-Gorath May Appear - Albeit With Gargantos' Name

A heavily advertised presence in Multiverse of Madness is an extradimensional demon by the name of Gargantos. However, the creature bears little resemblance to the Gargantos of the comics. Instead, it bears the uncanny likeness of the recurring Doctor Strange villain, Shuma-Gorath, renamed to avoid a legal dispute with Conan Comics.

Regardless of what the being is called, it could fit nicely into Midnight Suns. A demon with the recurring goal of threatening the Earth, it could easily make use of Lilith's plans and the carnage they cause to make another attempt on the planet. Whether aligned with Lilith or independent, it could prove an enjoyable foe with many of its old enemies already in the game to throw it back.

3 Carnage's Nemesis Is Already In The Game

Pre-release materials have confirmed Venom's presence as both a boss and a playable character, mind-controlled by Lilith into doing her bidding despite his overall lack of ties to Marvel's supernatural side. With Venom potentially on the side of good, that opens the doors for his archnemesis, Carnage, to appear.

A massive threat even without supernatural power, Carnage is well-suited to the power level of many in the game's cast. In addition, an appearance from him would help please fans who want to see more of the character after Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

2 Dracula Is The World's Most Iconic Supernatural Threat

Of all the monsters of the world, vampires are among the most famous, and Count Dracula is unquestionably the most famous vampire in fiction. He has made appearances in Marvel Comics, particularly as a nemesis of Blade, but also as a villain to countless others.

A supernatural game without Dracula could almost feel incomplete, although some may view his inclusion as more of a cliche. Nonetheless, the character's iconic status and potential rivalries with many of the game's playable cast make his inclusion seem likely, which fans would welcome.

1 Dormammu Is An Iconic Doctor Strange Nemesis

Midnight Suns deals more with Marvel's demonic side than other planes of existence like the Dark Dimension. Nonetheless, with Doctor Strange as prominent as he is in the game, many would think it a missed opportunity to not include one of his most famous foes, Dormammu.

Even with the high-power roster of Midnight Suns, Dormammu may be above the game's power scale, but that could make him a perfect threat for the endgame. Even if he can't fit into the base game, many people could be happy to see him serve as the antagonist of an eventual piece of DLC.
