Luke Skywalker came a long way from being a humble farm boy anxious to make his way into Tosche Station to pick up some power converters. Over the course of the original Star Wars trilogy and bleeding into the sequel trilogy, Luke became a Master Jedi and a cultural icon who, by now, has crossed over into the comic book world. Specifically, into the Marvel Universe.

While die-hard fans should not expect Luke to be teaming up alongside heroes like Spider-Man or Wolverine any time soon, but what if that was the case? If Luke Skywalker's story was truly expanded into the world of classic comic heroes and villains, which villains would and wouldn't prevail in a duel against the lightsaber duelist.

10 Could Beat: Swordsman

The Swordsman pointing his sword from Marvel Comics

If comic readers had to put their money on a single villain to be Marvel's best swordsman, it would have to be The Swordsman himself. After all, "swordsman" is literally in the guy's name. He certainly lives up to it as not only the man who trained Hawkeye but a frenemy with a complicated history as both a hero and a villain.

If he took the all-powerful sword given to him by the Mandarin and traded it for a lightsaber, he'd give Luke a run for his money, but lightsaber duels are just as mental as they are physical and a wiser Master Jedi has the edge there.

9 Can't Beat: Magneto

Ultimate Magneto

If duels against Luke Skywalker have to be more mental than physical, then certainly, Magneto would be a fair match-up. Although, keep in mind that in a one-on-one duel, Xavier's old friend probably won't be playing fair here.

Rather than a sword-to-sword duel between men, Magneto's powers allow him to take Luke's saber away from him from miles away and maybe cut Luke with his own saber without the need to even break a sweat.  In a matter of the mind, Magneto is the master.

8 Could Beat: Bullseye

Bullseye

Bullseye has always had a knack for leaving a mark on any and everything he so pleases without ever missing the target. Call it dumb luck or true skill, but Bullseye never misses and always gets his target.

Theoretically, that means that Luke Skywalker is in trouble if he so happens to be the target of Bullseye's affections, but not so fast. Bullseye's weapon of choice is typically a weapon he can fire at anyone (i.e. a gun, bow, and arrow), but mere objects like this can be stopped in the blink of an eye by a Jedi's Force.

7 Can't Beat: Onslaught

Professor X As Onslaught

If Magneto would make for a tough battle for Luke Skywalker, then Onslaught is fully capable of ripping the Jedi in half with a snap of his fingers. For those unaware of the character, Onslaught is the physical manifestation of the worst subconscious parts of both Professor X and Magneto. The end result is one of Marvel's most powerful mutants and one of the planet's most dangerous threats.

One of these mutants would make for a struggle for young Skywalker. Both of them could lead to dire the Jedi's dire end.

6 Could Beat: Silver Samurai

Wolverine dodges Silver Samurai's slashes in Uncanny X-Men

With his ability to shroud his sword in a tachyon energy field, Silver Samurai might be the only villain on this list who can craft a lightsaber all on his own to combat Luke Skywalker. He'll also be one of the tougher enemies for the Jedi to take on, given how the man behind the armor had trained formidable fighters like Wolverine.

However, speaking of Wolverine, the student was able to surpass the master on more than one occasion. Skywalker, on the other hand, managed to become stronger than his master, Ben Kenobi, and even defeated his own dad once upon a time ago. The Silver Samurai is going to have a long day against him.

5 Can't Beat: Purple Man

Zebediah Killgrave as the Purple Man

This list is filled with villains who all obtain deadly powers, but The Purple Man (who Jessica Jones fans may recognize best as Kilgrave) might be the most dangerous of them all with the simplest power on the list. He's a walking, talking game of Simon Says. He can literally make anybody do whatever he wants against their will just by saying it.

If Mr. Kilgrave just wanted to tell Mr. Skywalker to give him his lightsaber, or worse, use it to cut off his own hand, Luke Skywalker will do it without question. The Purple Man wins this battle by spewing a brief sentence or two.

4 Could Beat: Doc Ock

Spider-Man Vs Chameleon

Imagine this: a lightsaber duel between Luke Skywalker and Doctor Octopus. The catch being that the not-so-good doctor is rocking not one, not two, not even three, but a whopping four lightsabers where he takes full advantage of all four of his extra limbs attached to his back.

Aesthetically, that sounds pretty cool, but not much of a challenge for Luke Skywalker, most likely. Keep in mind that Luke's master, during his Obi-Wan Kenobi days, was able to defeat a similarly OP lightsaber duelist named General Grievous with relative ease despite Grevious having four of his own sabers at once. The same result should suffice in this similar scenario.

3 Can't Beat: MODOK

MODOK

"Mind over matter" has been something like a recurring phrase/idea throughout this list and no one has quite a mind as big - literally and figuratively - as M.O.D.O.K.

M.O.D.O.K. is lucky enough that he does not need to engage in an actual physical confrontation with anyone when he can attack from a distance with psionic abilities like telepathy and mental projection. There would be no need to get anywhere near Luke's lightsaber, forcing Luke to use his Force powers. Even better, M.O.D.O.L's enhanced intuition allows for him to be five moves ahead of Luke.

2 Could Beat: Loki

Loki Holds Tesseract MCU Avengers

Loki has never been a master fighter in any sense of the word, physically, but as the God of Mischief, he's always had a good trick up his sleeve. Loki has a wide array of powers up his sleeve, and that does not even begin to scratch the surface regarding his magic abilities. He can even create masterful illusions to distract his enemies before he truly strikes from behind.

However, with Luke having mastered the Force long ago, he's grown wise enough to see past any magic trick that Loki could have up his sleeve. Obviously, Loki is no match for Luke in a physical confrontation.

1 Can't Beat: Taskmaster

Taskmaster Black Widow Featured

A battle against The Taskmaster may very well be the toughest that Luke Skywalker would ever have to deal with, as far as villains on this list are concerned at least. The Taskmaster's ability to perfectly mimic a fighter's actions and fighting style could make for a lightsaber duel for the ages.

Granted, one thing that the Taskmaster cannot mimic is powers, so Luke could end this with a shred of Force energy. However, if Luke were willing to allow for this to be more of a mano-a-mano saber duel, then it offers the possibility for a seemingly neverending fight.
