Venom is one anti-hero in the Marvel Universe that fans will love no matter how many bad things he does. It's the entertainment value that it brings to the table and the fact that it is one of the best supervillains Spider-Man has ever faced.

Known as the Sinister Spider-Man, Venom is, in fact, very different from Marvel's web-shooter. It comes from the Symbiote world, and its superpowers are immensely better than that of Spider-Man's. Moreover, it requires a human host to stay alive, which, in itself, is a considerable disadvantage to overcome. Nevertheless, Venom's abilities overshadow his weaknesses, and here are 10 of them.

10 Cloning Superpowers

Cloning superpowers is the result of what the Symbiote can do. Venom has the inherent ability to gain knowledge from its host, and as a result, he has acquired several valuable human lessons and some superpowers from his list of hosts. For example, when he was with Spider-Man, Venom copied Peter Parker's use of web-shooters. He liked them so much that he overused them with Eddie Brock. Imagine what kinds of new superpowers Venom would learn if he ever bonded with a celestial being.

9 Taking Up Weird Shapes

Venom Turns Into a Car

Venom's liquid body allows it to do some bizarre stuff, ranging from creating weapons out of nowhere to forming disgusting structures to intimidate his enemies. Once, Agent Venom, aka Eugene "Flash" Thompson, thought it would be a good idea for Venom to engulf a car to chase down some criminals. If this Venom-mobile thing wasn't enough, the Symbiote once carved open Eddie Brock's stomach and stuck his trademark teeth in there. Venom's structure can do some incredible things.

8 Humanoid Form

Venom's species are called the Klyntar, and the Symbiote would seek to find them once its life. When Venom eventually made it home and there, it was cleansed. Its mind was made free from all those years of living with humans.

As a result, some of Venom's hidden superpowers started coming to the fore like it can be without a host, in its Humanoid form for, at least, 12 hours. After those 12 hours of bliss, Venom will become liquid again.

7 Using Body Parts To Kill

Venom from Marvel Comics

Venom is bloodthirsty. It's got a lot to do with his hunger, and well, it just likes the taste of blood. Eddie Brock wanted things to be a bit more professional, but Venom always benefited from the doubt. One of its powers includes having some control over its body parts once they have detached from it. It killed some criminals in this way. Venom cut off a portion of its body and sent it down the assailants' throat, giving them a scary death in the process.

6 Camouflage

VENOM MARVEL COMICS

Venom chooses to be black. It has camouflage abilities, which means it can take up any color it likes, but for some reason, Venom seems to be attached to the black color. There has to be a reason behind it, although it could also be just a spontaneous decision from the Symbiote. The good thing about having camouflage abilities is that Venom can hide its identity if it wants to. But because it doesn't, it might mean that it likes this superhero gig a bit too much. And the popularity that comes with it.

5 Protecting The Host

Venom shares his mind with someone else

Venom cannot survive without a host. And because it found a home on Earth, it has no choice but to protect the humans it is bonded to. Venom has done some incredible things to save its host, and the most notable bit came with Eddie Brock. Eddie had terminal cancer, and Venom fixed it. Not only that but once Venom became a walking oxygen synthesizer to protect Eddie from drowning. If it is put in a precarious situation, Venom always finds a way to keep its host's heart beating.

4 Cosmic Voices

It turns out that Venom was hiding a lot of abilities in his locker. After getting cleansed from his world, Venom and his partner, Eugene, set out on a journey into space.

There, Venom was starting to hear voices from the cosmos. It was as if its black suit was telling it to kill someone. Venom never really managed to write down the exact message coming to it, but it was enough to know that the anti-hero was being called somewhere.

3 Acidic Saliva

An alien isn't complete without having acid secretion abilities. Venom looked like someone who didn't have it, but the writers just couldn't let go of this superpower. Venom learned some new skills, and one of them saw it use corrosive acid in its saliva. This was seen in a storyline that featured future versions of the superheroes and supervillains. It was 2099, and Venom was bonded with Stone. Saliva isn't the only place inside Venom with acid as its blood is also highly corrosive.

2 Telepathic Skills

The Sinister Spider-Man is not only immune to psychic attacks; it also has the basic idea of using telepathic abilities. Being bonded to a human host means communicating telepathically, but once, his abilities shot up. During its time with Eddie Brock, Venom's telepathic scream could be heard all around New York. Furthermore, Venom can communicate with its species telepathically. Maybe if Venom is given enough time with its host, it might get better at using telepathy.

1 Penance Stare Immunity

1 Red Hulk Ghost Rider Venom

One of the deadliest superpowers in the Marvel Universe is the Penance Stare of Ghost Rider. It rots the soul with unbearable guilt before killing him/her slowly. Being immune to the Penance Stare is quite a superpower to have. Venom can laugh it off when Ghost Rider tries the ability on it. Moreover, as an extended ability, Venom seems to be unmoved by the use of magical powers on it, be it illusion casting or manipulating of its dreams.
