The Venom-themed event The King in Black will see the dark deity Knull descend upon the Marvel Universe this December. However, readers will also learn how the God of the Symbiotes affected Peter Parker's life.

King in Black: Symbiote Spider-Man is a five-issue miniseries from Peter David and Greg Land that flashes back to Spider-Man's time wearing the Symbiote. The synopsis teases at Knull forging a weapon from darkness, which is similar to how he gave birth to the race of Symbiotes.

On the cover for Issue #1, several cosmic characters take center stage, including Uatu the Watcher, the future Guardian of the Galaxy Rocket Raccoon, Black Knight and the time-traveling villain Kang the Conqueror.
