The Marvel Comics event series Extreme Carnage is reaching the end of its storyline, and a preview of its conclusion shows one of its central characters getting swiftly murdered.
Extreme Carnage Omega #1 by writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson, penciler Manuel Garcia, inker Cam Smith, color artist GURU-eFX and letterer VC's Travis Lanham wraps up the Carnage-centered event, which has featured the serial killing symbiote corrupt its Life Foundation offspring (Phage, Riot, Lasher and Agony). However, as the Omega preview demonstrates, Riot meets an untimely end at the hands of Sleeper, a spawn of Venom.
The preview shows Anti-Venom (Flash Thompson), Silence (Andi Benton, former host of symbiotes Mania and Scream) and Toxin racing to save Flash's war buddy, Hank. While Riot believes it's gotten the drop on Hank, his body recovers and is revealed to be Sleeper, who slices off Riot's head and hand from behind.
Spinning out of the events of King in Black, Extreme Carnage shows the titular villain using the Hive to systematically search out its offspring to bend them to its will. Anti-Venom, newly resurrected following King in Black, has been on the case chasing the Life Foundation symbiotes to stop Carnage's evil scheme.
Carnage has been busy in both the comics and movies, with Sony Pictures' Venom: Let There Be Carnage scheduled to arrive in theaters on Oct. 1. Woody Harrelson portrays Cletus Kasady/Carnage in the Venom sequel, after making a cameo appearance in the post-credits scene of the first film. The scene in question showed Harrelson with a red wig that drew a critical response from fans, though the actor admitted even he wasn't a fan of it. "In the first one, I didn't like that wig," Harrelson said. "That was pretty uh... that was a bit amateur. I liked what we did in the second one."
