Marvel is joining franchises like Pokémon and Jurassic World in releasing an AR game. Marvel World of Heroes is an upcoming mobile game developed by Niantic, and it's designed to be a social and interactive experience. Letting players create their own superhero, the game invites them to fight villainy in their day-to-day lives.

Little is known about the game, other than its core concept. Marvel World of Heroes promises to give players a sense of genuine heroism as they play, and to let them explore several different versions of the Marvel Universe. Core mechanics, price, and even a release date are all still to be announced, however, it claims a 2023 release.

6 Midnight Suns Is A Tactical, Card-Based RPG

Marvel's Midnight Suns is one of the most-anticipated Marvel games releasing soon. It's being developed by Firaxis, the company behind the XCOM and Civilization strategy games. Midnight Suns reduces the scale somewhat, focusing on teams of three superheroes battling through waves of enemies. The game is slated for release on PCs in December 2022, with consoles getting a later release.

Midnight Suns focuses more on the darker and more magical side of Marvel. It features Lilith as its main villain, and includes heroes like Blade, Doctor Strange, and Ghost Rider. Using cards rather than dice rolls to produce its random effects, players must improve their heroes' capabilities through research, deck building, and social interaction. Before long, they unleash their improved heroes in tactical turn-based combat.

5 Insomniac's Spider-Man Game Is Getting A Sequel

Few superhero games have made as much of a splash as Marvel's Spider-Man for the PS4. Released in 2019, the game quickly became beloved for its heartfelt story, its thrilling open-world gameplay, and the feeling of a Spider-Man comic book being brought to life on game consoles.

Spider-Man received a spin-off in the form of Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Now a third game is under development. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is slated for a 2023 release, and while it's story hasn't been confirmed, teasers indicate it will feature long-time Spider-Man nemesis, Venom.

4 Marvel SNAP Is A More Traditional Head-To-Head Card Game

The online card game market is doing well for itself. Games like Hearthstone and Magic: the Gathering Arena have devoted playerbases. Marvel SNAP is Marvel's attempt to join in on the market. It promises to play as a more conventional card battle game, rather than the card-based tactical gameplay of Midnight Suns.

Marvel SNAP will let players construct a team from combinations of many of their favorite heroes. It claims to be a fast-paced card game, designed to go quicker than many of its contemporaries. Marvel SNAP is currently out in select territories, and due a worldwide release for IOS and Android on October 18th, 2022.

3 An Iron Man Game Is Confirmed To Be In The Works

Iron Man has achieved a huge rise in status thanks to his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He served as one of the main characters of the MCU's Infinity Saga and underwent one of its most radical character arcs. However, many of his video games have been underwhelming or outright poor.

After lots of speculation, EA confirmed an Iron Man game is in development by Motive Studio. The Iron Man game will tell an original story, not beholden to the comic books or the MCU. Billed as the first collaboration of many between Marvel and EA, its release date is unknown, but likely to be several years away.

2 Insomniac Are Also Making A Wolverine Game

Insomniac Games were given their choice of heroes when they made Marvel's Spider-Man. Since then, they've announced they will be taking on another of Marvel's most popular characters: Wolverine. The game will be a PS5 exclusive, and hasn't been given a release date.

Details for Marvel's Wolverine remain scarce. It will focus on Wolverine but share continuity with Insomniac's Marvel's Spider-Man games. Other than that, it's not known how similar it will be to the Spider-Man games, or how prominent a role other X-Men will play in the game's story.

1 An Untitled WWII Game Will Feature Captain America And Black Panther

Most upcoming Marvel video games take place in the present, following the cues of the MCU. However, one upcoming game by Skydance Media plans to look back to an older age for the Marvel Universe. The game is untitled, and little more is known about it other than the base concept. It will focus on Captain America and Black Panther, working together in World War II to fight HYDRA.

The game will feature King Azzuri as the Black Panther, rather than the King T'Challa best-known to fans. Besides its two central characters, it will also give players the chance to play as Wakandan spy, Nanali, and Howling Commandos member Gabriel Jones. Based on its cast and setting, it seems likely that the game will take some inspiration from the Flags of ur Fathers story arc.
