A new Kickstarter campaign will add an X-Men-themed expansion to the Marvel United board game.

Marvel United has launched a Kickstarter for an X-Men-centric version of the hit game. The game pits X-Men Wolverine, Jean Grey, Professor X, Storm, Beast and Cyclops against Magneto, Mystique, Sabretooth and Juggernaut, with the team of Pyro, Toad and Blob available at a higher pledge tier. At the time of writing, the campaign's goal has already been met more than twice over. Fans can also get the X-Men -- The Horsemen of Apocalypse expansion, featuring the X-Men battling their ancient foe Apocalypse and his Four Horsemen, with Archangel serving as the Horseman of Death.

The Marvel United game was created by designers Eric Lang and Andrea Chiaversio and launched last year on Kickstarter. It met its target goal within 30 minutes of launching and gathered a total of $2,866,168 in funds. The game features players taking control of various Marvel heroes as they work together to battle some of the most notorious villains in the Marvel universe. Marvel United also features expansions centered on different Marvel storylines, including The Infinity Gauntlet and Spider-VerseX-Men -- The Horsemen of Apocalypse is the seventh expansion and can be unlocked at the $100 Apocalypse Pledge.
