An extra-dimensional, sentient force from the cosmos, the Uni-Power watches over the Marvel universe as a silent protector. In times of crisis, this phenomenal force chooses a host to imbue with all of its power. After doing so, that host becomes the incredibly powerful Captain Universe for a time. Needless to say, this is quite an honor and quite an upgrade.

Over the years, the Uni-Power has chosen many different hosts to protect the universe. From average citizens to established superheroes, the Uni-Power has chosen several different champions from all corners of the Marvel universe. Here are the top ten best characters to ever wield Marvel's mighty Uni-Power.

10 10. Casey

Unlike the other heralds of the Uni-Power, Casey was merely a dog. During one of Marvel's What If? storylines, Casey and his owner Glenn Herdling went on a trip to the Port Jervis countryside. After Glenn left Casey by his car, the bachelor was joined by his date, Laura, to go on a hot air balloon ride.

Just as Glenn took out a ring to propose to Laura, the balloon burst into flame, putting the two of them into immediate mortal danger. The Uni-Power then chose Casey as its champion, creating a canine Captain Universe. Casey quickly leapt into action, saving the two humans. After this short act of heroism, the Uni-Power left this host, leaving Casey merely a dog again.

9 9. Miles Morales

The most recent inheritor of the Uni-Power to make this list, Miles Morales proved to be one of the most impressive heroes to boast the power of Captain Universe. During the Spider-Geddon event, the Uni-Power granted Miles its many wondrous abilities.

Using these enhanced abilities, Miles is able to easily dispatch the Inheritors, one of the most powerful inter-dimensional families. Not only did he use these powers, but Miles also wielded the sword Vigor from the hero Leoparden.

8 8. Tamara Devaux

When Ex Nihilo, his sister Abyss and their Aleph set out to destroy a series of planets, the Avengers are forced to confront the two entities in hopes of saving countless lives. During their battle, a mysterious new Captain Universe arrives and vaporizes the Aleph.

It is later revealed that this new Captain Universe is a woman named Tamara Devoux. Devoux had been in a coma for ten years after suffering a terrible car accident. The mysterious Uni-Power then chose her as its new champion, sensing in her a virtue that it saw in very few people.

7 7. Gabriel Vargas

A former marine that had been honorably discharged, Gabriel Vargas became Captain Universe when the Uni-Power chose him to defend the innocent. Vargas had suffered several war-time injuries, but the Uni-Power restored his body and granted him an array of formidable powers besides.

This version of the Uni-Power had copied different abilities from heroes such as Hulk, X-23, Daredevil, Invisible Woman, Gladiator, and Silver Surfer. So, not only did Vargas have the traditional powers of Captain Universe, but he also had these additional heroes' abilities as well.

6 6. Juggernaut

When a former victim of one of Juggernaut's rampages becomes Captain Universe, he immediately sets out to get revenge on the supervillain. The Uni-Power, however, had chosen this host for more noble purposes. The tectonic plates beneath New York City had shifted, creating great danger for the citizens above.

Since this Captain Universe was proving to be quite selfish, the Uni-Power left him, and instead decided to grant its abilities to Juggernaut. The villain then decided to take a heroic turn and fix the plates, a problem which he had actually caused several years earlier.

5 5. Daredevil

Matt Murdock was involved in a horrible accident as a child. Dangerous radioactive materials spilled onto his face, rendering the boy blind. Although one sense was taken away, his other senses were greatly enhanced, which eventually turned him into the superhero Daredevil.

When chosen as Captain Universe, Daredevil's sight was restored. In addition to that, DD was granted all of the powers of Captain Universe. Matched with his crime-fighting experience, this made him one of the most capable Captain Universe 'hosts' to date.

4 4. Bruce Banner

Bruce Banner has been possessed by the Uni-Power on a couple of different occasions. During his first encounter with the extra-dimensional force, Banner was actually separated from the Hulk. Then, in his Captain Universe form, Banner actually battled his big, green alter ego.

On the second occasion, the Uni-Power possessed Banner in his Hulk form without separating the two entities. Instead, it greatly enhanced the Hulk's powers and gave him a blue skin. This new Captain Universe Hulk was not only more powerful, but also had better control over his aggressive impulses.

3 3. Spider-Man

We've already seen that Miles Morales has had a stint as Captain Universe, but Peter Parker wasn't going to be outdone there. When Loki created the deadly Tri-Sentinel, the Uni-Power saw it fit to imbue the hero Spider-Man with its powers. After attaining these powers, Spider-Man went on to quickly defeat this deadly new Sentinel.

Although the Sentinel had been defeated, the Uni-Power decided to remain with Spidey for several more adventures. This allowed the wall-crawler to fight many powerful villains who are normally outside of his weight class. The most notable of these enemies was the Master of Magnetism, Magneto himself.

2 2. Deadpool

Deadpool fights Thanos

Over the course of the Deadpool vs. Thanos series, the two Marvel icons went back and forth in battle over the love of the physical embodiment of Death. Towards the end of the story, Thanos put forth an effort to try and destroy the universe.

Deadpool is then possessed by the Uni-Power, becoming Captain Universe. Deadpool is able to use this newfound strength to defend the universe and defeat the mad titan.

1 1. Delayne Masters

Delayne Masters wasn't the most powerful host chosen. He also didn't face the greatest threat or save the most people. Nonetheless, the story of Delayne Masters is arguably the best tale of any Captain Universe.

Hoping to intervene with a group of violent bullies, the Uni-Power possesses Masters just as the group attacks him. Later on in the story, the Uni-Power leaves Delayne before all of the bullies are defeated. Emboldened and empowered by the experience, Delayne no longer needs to be Captain Universe. He goes on to stand up to and defeat the bullies by himself.
