During today's Nintendo Direct, the company showed off footage of the upcoming Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order and announced that Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, will join the game's heroic roster. She'll be able to fly and use her energy blasts in the game, in addition to going into her Binary mode.

Captain Marvel joins a cast of characters that naturally features both the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy. Also highlighted in the trailer are the Defenders and X-Men, with Iron Fist and Storm respectively representing their teams, along with Venom. This will be the first game in the series to feature the Guardians as playable characters.

The newest entry in the action-RPG franchise was given a short trailer during the event that highlighted the game's co-op mode. Those who plan on doing online co-op should know that a Nintendo Online account will be required for that part of the game.

Details on Ultimate Alliance 3 have been scarce since its surprise announcement in December, though it'll come as no surprise that it includes both Thanos and the Black Order as its antagonists.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 releases for the Switch this summer.
