Official Press Release

Hey, True Believer!

On behalf of everyone in The House, I want to thank the fine folks atDiamond Comics Distribution, Quebecor, the comics media (both print andonline), and everyone who posted on message boards to help spread the wordof HEROES, our effort to raise money for - and salute - the world's realheroes. Thanks to everyone's efforts, Diamond is now entirely sold out ofthe first printing of HEROES - of which more than 20,000 were orderedbetween 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. today!

It's no secret that Marvel loves generating headlines - to get readersexcited not only about our comics but also about the entire comics industry- but this time it's special. This time we're selling books for the bestreason of all: to help others. As you know, the proceeds from the sale ofthe 64-page poster magazine will go to the Twin Towers Fund, which will inturn give the money to the people who are truly in need.

It is my hope that every retailer across the country (and across the world)has copies of HEROES in the front window and a big ol' stack by the cashregister. If your local store didn't order HEROES, please ask them to. A fewhours ago I received a call from a woman living in Florida who saw JoeQuesada and Adam Kubert on the Today Show this morning (which is recappedat: http://www.comicon.com/ubb/Forum13/HTML/000415.html), and wanted to buycopies for her nieces and nephews. Believe it or not, not only did theperson working at her local comics shop not have copies of HEROES, but hadnever even heard of the project! The good news is that they are now beingburied in phone calls asking about HEROES! So the job of informing both tothe retailing community and the outside world is not over!
