Two of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe happen to be supervillains. Thanos and Galactus are unbeatable, and the world should be thankful that they don't have similar ideologies, or else they could have ruled the universe together.

While the Mad Titan is obsessed with Lady Death, the Devourer of Worlds is content with feeding on planets so as to increase his power. Both of them have very distinct abilities and because of the kind of damage their superpowers can potentially cause, they are considered celestial beings. Their individual skill-sets can be compared because there isn't much of a difference between their power levels.

10 THANOS: The Children Of Thanos Who Follow Him Blindly

Avengers Infinity War Loki With Children of Thanos Black Order

The Children of Thanos is the Mad Titan's huge army that can also be considered a cult. They follow him blindly. Although Galactus himself has Heralds, the number isn't high enough for it to be considered an army. Thanos has used them to wipe out a lot of lives in order to achieve his lifelong objective of impressing Lady Death. The Mad Titan's army doesn't have many not-so-powerful soldiers either as they are all very strong beings in their own right.

9 GALACTUS: Teleportation With His Mind

Galactus Reed Richards

Teleportation can be achieved by Thanos as well but he relies on a technological device for that. Galactus, on the other hand, does it with his mind. He can not only teleport himself over extremely large distances in the blink of an eye, but he can also transport any object to wherever he wants. Teleportation is a very underrated ability. It can come in very handy when Galactus is on the back foot. He can teleport to get some rest.

8 THANOS: Cosmic Weapons That Protect Him & Put Out Damage

Having cosmic weapons is more of a necessity for Thanos more than anything. The Mad Titan always finds himself in disputes and battles, which means he needs to keep some firepower ready with him at all times.

Galactus likes to make use of his powers, instead, and he has never really relied on weapons. These weapons that Thanos has aren't easy to defend against. They protect him, as well as, allow him to attack with purpose.

7 GALACTUS: Immortal Who Can Be Resurrected If He's Killed

Marvel Galactus Reaching For Planet

Even though Thanos is nigh-invulnerable and very difficult to kill, he is not immortal, in the sense that he cannot be resurrected once he is killed. Galactus has been around since the creation of the universe and he is central to its working. He is immortal and even if someone manages to kill him, he will be resurrected. Thanos would do anything to gain immortality. But he would be willing to die if someone guarantees him a life with Lady Death on the other side.

6 THANOS: Unmatched Intellect To Come Up With Brilliant Plans

Marvel

Thanos has a very gifted brain. He not only has the ability to come up with genius ideas on a regular basis, but he also plans for the long term, with every contingency plan in place. While Galactus himself has a genius-level intellect, he hasn't had to use his mind like Thanos. The Mad Titan trains his brain with every attack that he plans with his army. He can easily devise a brilliant plan to get the better of the Devourer of Worlds.

5 GALACTUS: Absorbing Matter

Marvel

Galactus cannot do without absorbing matter. It is a must for him to keep devouring planets so that his energy stays up to the mark. Still, it is a terrifying superpower to have and a deadly one to come up against. Galactus can easily use this power of his to negotiate a way out of every situation. If anyone threatens him with anything, he can give them a glimpse of what absorption of matter feels and looks like. Thanos would love to have something like this in his armory.

4 THANOS: Agility & Reflexes In Hand-To-Hande Combat

Scarlet Witch vs Thanos

Despite being in the Marvel Universe for a long while, Galactus has never really learned how to fight because he hasn't had to use his skills in a battle. He leaves those kinds of things to his Heralds. This means he is neither agile nor has he developed good reflexes.

The same cannot be said for Thanos who is one of the best hand-to-hand combatants in Marvel history. He has trained in almost every martial arts form, and he has beaten some of the best with his bare hands.

3 GALACTUS: Power Cosmic

Marvel

Galactus has the cosmic energy inside him, which can be gained when he devours planets. He also has the ability to give a part of his powers to his chosen Heralds. Their only job is to find new planets for Galactus to consume, while also helping him with the fighting bit. Thanos cannot provide his energy to someone else like Galactus. He cannot even absorb energy as his fellow Marvel supervillain can.

2 THANOS: Infinity Gauntlet With The Right Stones

Thanos Infinity Gauntlet feature

The only way Thanos is overpowering Galactus is if he has the Infinity Gauntlet with him at all times. Even if he has two or three stones of the right characteristics, Galactus will start fearing him. The Mad Titan's biggest achievement was gathering these incredible forces of nature and then finding the right cosmic weapon to handle them. With the Infinity Stones in his grasp, Thanos becomes the strongest being in the Marvel Multiverse, and thus, one of the most powerful supervillains of all time.

1 GALACTUS: Giving Life To Planets

Colorful cosmic energy surrounds Galactus the Lifebringer

The Devourer of Worlds has not always been a dreaded force of nature. Once, he came up against the Ultimates, which is a group of superheroes who deal with cosmic threats to protect Earth. They forced Galactus into an incubator and somehow, his roles were reversed. Instead of eating planets, he started giving them life. He became the Lifebringer. These kinds of superpowers show how important Galactus is to the Marvel Multiverse. Thanos, on the other hand, is not and he has aptly been nicknamed the Mad Titan.
