UPDATE 9/26/2013 11:43 AM PT: In an August interview with CBR News on "Captain America," Rick Remender discussed plans for a character named "Doctor Mindbubble."

"We'll have the first appearance of Doctor Mind Bubble; a terrifying new villain who was created in the 1960s prior to Nuke as part of the Weapon Minus program to serve as a countermeasure to everything being created in the Weapon Plus program," Remender said. "His powers originated from a version of the Super Soldier Serum mixed with LSD."

Remender has been planting seeds for Doctor Mindbubble for a while -- mentioning the character in a 2011 interview with CBR on "Uncanny X-Force."

"Doctor Mind Bubble is somebody I have big plans for," the writer said. "All I can say about him right now is that the Weapon Plus Program created him in the '60s."

Original story: Marvel follows up on its pair of NYCC-themed teasers from yesterday -- TRIAL and JUDGEMENT -- with a third single-word image: MINDBUBBLE.

While yesterday's teasers were both promoting upcoming projects from Brian Michael Bendis (with artists Stuart Immonen and Sara Pichelli), today it's writer Rick Remender's turn, along with artists Pascal Alixe and Nic Klein. While today's single-word hint is more opaque than yesterday's, the image's background offers a hint that it may be something other than the next arc for "Uncanny Avengers" or "Captain America." Adjusted in Photoshop, a giant "1" is revealed, indicating perhaps that the NYCC Avengers panel on October 11 will offer fans news of a new Marvel NOW Wave 3 title, a "1" which appears on the previous teasers as well. Of course, it could just as easily be an indication that these announcements revolve around new stories in the already running Wave 1 titles.

All will be revealed during the Avengers panel at New York Comic Con 2013 on October 11 where CBR will be on hand, live, with the latest news and announcements.
