Marvel Comics has found waves of success in the past decade by launching new young legacy heroes from their most famous characters. But now they're taking the fan-favorite trend one step further by essentially "shipping" two of Spider-Man's teenage counterparts in an upcoming storyline.

Released amid the publisher's fall announcements, the publisher's Marvel NOW! catalog revealed that Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen will be starting a relationship as part of an upcoming crossover in their respective titles.

Creators Jason Latour and Robbi Rodriguez start things off in "Spider-Gwen" #15, and Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli will pick up the ball in "Spider-Man" #12.

The characters appeared briefly in the same story during the "Spider-Verse" event, but until now there has been little real connection between the teen phenoms --probably due to the fact that they exist in alternate Marvel Universes.

However, the pair do share some sideways history in that Miles knew a slightly older version of Gwen Stacy in the now defunct Ultimate Universe. And, of course, Spider-Gwen has her own history dealing with the death of a Peter Parker in her own timeline. How/if those details will play out in the upcoming romantic entanglement will no doubt be explored when the characters cross paths and lock lips in the fall.
