The first wave of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was focused on two teams - The Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy - as they formed and came together to fight Thanos and save the world during the now-concluded "Infinity Saga" storyline.

However, as both teams are poised to take a new direction in the next phase of the MCU, the floor is open for a new team (or teams) to take center stage and carry the MCU for another few phases. So today we are going to take a look at a few teams we'd like to see make their appearance on the big screen in the MCU, aside from the obvious inclusions of the Fantastic Four and the X-Men.

10 YOUNG AVENGERS

We've seen the beginnings of the Young Avengers in the MCU with appearances from characters like Cassie Lang (Ant-Man's daughter) and the upcoming rumored debut of Kate Bishop (Hawkeye) as well as Wiccan and Speed (WandaVision), so the franchise only needs a couple of additions to make a comic accurate team of Young Avengers.

While the Young Avengers initially formed up and took on their superhero identities as an homage to their favorite heroes, it was soon revealed that some of the members of the team had serious connections to the history of the Avengers, which is a premise that would play well in the "it's all connected" world of the MCU.

9 POWER PACK

We've seen a few prominent superhero families in the Marvel Universe as characters like the Fantastic Four and the X-Men feature a number of familial bonds that connect the characters, but there is another team of young heroes who tragically haven't made many appearances as a group since their original series, and that's the Power Pack.

Alex, Julie, Jack, and Katie Power were siblings who gained their abilities from an alien species and a sentient ship and became youthful superheroes with matching costumes who built many friendships with other Marvel characters like Spider-Man and the X-Men over the years. We'd love to see the Power siblings debut on the big screen to add a kid-friendly property to the MCU.

8 NEW WARRIORS

We've almost seen a live-action version of the New Warriors hit the small-screen in a now-shelved comedy series, which frees up the property to explore the original team which included members like Night Thrasher, Firestar, Rage, and Speedball, all of whom will be returning to star in a new comic series as the former team reunites to train new heroes.

While the New Warriors haven't reached the same level of popularity as they experienced in the 90s, the unique cast of characters unites the various corners of the Marvel U. while also giving a fresh perspective on the life of a modern-day costumed hero much like the most recent Spider-Man franchise of films.

7 A-FORCE

Ever since the female heroes of the MCU assembled on the battlefield to keep the Infinity Gauntlet away from Thanos in Avengers: Endgame, fans have been hoping to see a version of Marvel's femme fatales show up on the big screen in their own film.

A-Force, as they are known in the comics, was a team of female Avengers led by characters like She-Hulk and Captain Marvel, both of whom have a growing future in the MCU. A-Force could see the return of fan-favorite characters like Valkyrie and Pepper Potts/Rescue while opening the doors for new female heroes to enter the MCU.

6 X-FORCE

Another team that has been previously teased on the big screen is the mutant strike force known as X-Force, who made somewhat of a cinematic debut in Deadpool 2, though that was a unique iteration of the team that was quickly wiped out for laughs.

While the promise of an X-Force film disappeared when 20th Century Fox was sold to Disney, this could open the doors for a legitimate X-Force adaptation that could even follow in the footsteps of the upcoming The New Mutants, which will introduce the MCU's first mutants who later become X-Force under the leadership of Cable in the comics.

5 EXCALIBUR

Of course, there are a number of X-Men characters and teams that could show up in the MCU now that the mutants film rights have returned to Marvel Studios, and the UK's own Excalibur might be the next best team for the MCU to adapt.

We've previously heard rumors that Captain Britain could be making his MCU appearance after a couple of name drops in recent films, and as one of the leaders of Excalibur, he could debut alongside other team members like Meggan, Shadowcat, Nightcrawler, and even Rachel Summers.

4 DEFENDERS

Now the inclusion of the Defenders in the MCU could mean a couple of different things, as we've already seen one version of this team debut on Netflix to bring together the stars of DaredevilJessica JonesLuke Cage, and Iron Fist, which some fans would love to see brought into the MCU proper.

However, the original comic Defenders were a much different team that was put together by Doctor Strange, which could give the Sorcerer Supreme his own team to lead against the supernatural forces of the MCU. The original Defenders featured Strange alongside Silver Surfer, Namor, and the Hulk, but heroes like Valkyrie and Ghost Rider also joined versions of the team.

3 CHAMPIONS

Another team name that has been used a few times over the years was the Champions, whose first roster included heroes like Angel, Iceman, Hercules, Black Widow and Ghost Rider. The comic wasn't well received and the team quickly disbanded until a new wave of heroes formed up as a new team of Champions.

This team of young heroes was put together by the Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, Miles Morales/Spider-Man, and Sam Alexander/Nova after they left the Avengers due to disagreements. The new Champions brought together other new heroes like Amadeus Cho/Brawn, Viv Vision, Riri Willaims/Ironheart and more that we'd love to see on the big screen.

2 ALPHA FLIGHT

The X-line of characters features another team of heroes who operate out of the Great White North as Canada's superteam Alpha Flight, who might be better known as Wolverine's first team before he left to join the X-Men.

Canada's superteam includes characters like Guardian, Vindicator, Sasquatch, Puck, Shaman, Northstar and Aurora and have worked alongside the X-Men and on their own for years. The most recent iteration of the team was led by Captain Marvel as they became the first line of defense against threats from space, which we might have seen teased already in the MCU.

1 THUNDERBOLTS

Of course, there are quite a few villainous teams we'd like to see in the MCU as well like the Masters of Evil, which featured a number of the Avengers' greatest villains as they teamed up to take on the heroes. While the appearance of the Masters of Evil may not work as well without the Avengers in the next phases of the MCU, there is still another angle the team could take.

Following the disappearance of heroes like the Avengers and the Fantastic Four, the Thunderbolts arrived and began earning the trust of New York City. However, they were soon revealed to be the Masters of Evil in disguise, though some of the former villains were lured by their acts of heroism and became Thunderbolts full-time, which we'd love to see play out on the big screen.
