Marvel released a video compilation documenting the most noteworthy Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 3 scenes that drew its iconography from comic book panels."Our first in a two-part series, look back at the comic inspiration behind major moments from Phase 3 of the MCU!" Marvel wrote. Featuring side-by-side comparisons of covers and panels with their movie shots, three of the most noteworthy moments came from 2016's Captain America: Civil War. In addition to the famous Civil War cover page of Captain America blocking Iron Man's repulsors with his shield, the film not only adapted its opposing leader's final fight but also a classic Marvel cover of Hawkeye shooting an arrow with Ant-Man riding it.RELATED: Kevin Feige Offers Fans Hope for Netflix Heroes' MCU Debut

Other comic-to-film moments in the video revealed source material for the Phase 3 movies Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther. Doctor Strange featured the second-most amount of references with three comic shots, while Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther contained two each. Some notable examples include Hulk's gladiator armor and the planet Sakaar in Ragnarok paying homage to 2006's Planet Hulk.

Phase 3 of the MCU ran from 2016-2019, beginning with Captain America: Civil War and ending with Spider-Man: Far From Home. Serving as the final chapters of the Infinity Saga, its films saw the live-action debut of characters like Black Panther and Captain Marvel and revealed locations for the remaining Infinity Stones. This set up Thanos' long-awaited arrival in Avengers: Infinity War, where he successfully used the Stones to erase half of all life in the universe from existence. Five years later in Avengers: Endgame, the remaining Avengers retrieved the Infinity Stones across time and used them to bring everyone back, resulting in nearly every hero from the franchise's history showing up to aid Captain America in defeating the Mad Titan.
