Disney might own both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Star Wars, but according to Kevin Feige, there are no plans nor rationale to make a crossover film between these franchises happen.

In a recent interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Feige was asked about his producer role for an upcoming Star Wars movie and whether this could lead to the possibility of seeing Marvel and Star Wars "collide in the same movie." In response, the Marvel Studios President stated that, "If you'd ask me if anything we're talking about right now was in the realm of possibility 20 years ago, I would've said 'I don't think so.' But I really don't think so with that. I don't think there's any reason for it."

Feige also mentioned that he's not against the idea of franchises crossing over, citing a love for the X-Men/Star Trek: The Next Generation crossover Planet X, but didn't believe those concepts are "necessary in anything other than the comics." He then jokingly admitted that Patton Oswalt's iconic Star Wars filibuster rant from the Parks and Recreation episode "Article Two," which theorized the idea of Thanos using the Infinity Stones to transport himself into the Star Wars universe, is the closest anyone will get to seeing that idea happen.

Disney acquired the rights to Marvel Entertainment in 2009, as well as Lucasfilm in 2012, the latter of which resulted in a complete overhaul of existing Star Wars continuity. In the time since those investments, Marvel has released its twenty-third movie in the MCU's "Infinity Saga," as well as numerous TV shows and tie-ins like the recent WandaVision series. Likewise, Star Wars under Disney saw the release of a new franchise trilogy, two prequel films, multiple animated series and the acclaimed Disney+ show The Mandalorian.

A new list of programs for both franchises were unveiled at Disney's Investors Day event in December, including the titles and cast for Marvel's Phase 4 lineup and multiple upcoming Star Wars shows for Disney+.

Kevin Feige has been President of Marvel Studios since 2007 and Marvel's Chief Creative Officer since 2019. No details about his upcoming Star Wars film, which Feige will produce alongside Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, have been announced yet.
