Marvel Studios shows no signs of slowing down as it continues to develop several products for film and television. One of these potential projects may feature a team of superheroes who could potentially rival the Avengers.

DanielRPK -- a scooper noted for his insider information regarding Marvel Studios -- made a post to his Patreon claiming he's heard a project featuring the Squadron Supreme is currently in development.

There have been multiple incarnations of the Squadron Supreme; the first version was created by Roy Thomas and John Buscema, and would serve as the focus of an acclaimed maxi-series by writer Mark Gruenwald that saw them attempting to create Utopia on their own Earth. A modern version of the Squadron were the stars of a Marvel MAX title by J. Michael Straczynski and Gary Frank. Currently, a Squadron Supreme of America has been formed in the pages of Jason Aaron's Avengers, led by former SHIELD agent Phil Coulson.

The Squadron acts as an expy for DC's Justice League, and its membership usually consists of Hyperion, Zarda aka Power Princess, Nighthawk, the Blur and Doctor Spectrum.

If this project materializes, it is unclear if it will be a series intended for Disney+, a theatrical release or something else altogether. The Squadron has also been rumored to appear in the Loki series coming to Disney+.
