Marvel Studios Reveals Disney+'s First What If Story

During Disney's annual investors conference today, the company confirmed and revealed details about several new properties coming to the Disney+ streaming service, including the details about the upcoming animated What If? series.

The upcoming animated series is based on the classic What If? comic books that told tales of alternate universes where familiar Marvel Universe stories unfolded in very different ways.

In his presentation, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige announced that one of the first of the new series will offer a different take on Captain America's origin story. It will look at what would happen if Peggy Carter received the Super Soldier Serum and Steve Rogers instead received an armor suit from Howard Stark.

The new What If? animated series will have Kevin Feige overseeing the project and it will be set up as an anthology series, mirroring the form of the original comic book series. Along with other new series like Falcon and the Winter Soldier and WandaVision, the series will reportedly feature actors reprising their MCU roles.

The Peggy Carter/Steve Rogers episode was the one confirmed today, although it was previously reported that an episode involving Loki finding Thor's hammer and unraveling all of Marvel history, was also coming to the animated anthology series.
