Styles, who is a former member of the band One Direction, made his debut as Eros in the mid-credits scene for Eternals, where he visited Thena, Makkari and Druig with Pip the Troll. Prior to the release of Eternals, an image of Styles and his casting in the movie were all leaked online. There is no confirmation at this time of when Styles will next appear in the MCU. However, there are several upcoming cosmic MCU films, including Thor: Love and Thunder, The Marvels and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It's entirely possible Eros will appear in at least one of those films.

Created by Jim Starlin, Eros/Starfox first appeared in 1972's Invincible Iron Man #55. A member of the Eternals and the brother of Thanos, Starfox possesses a number of incredible abilities. Like the Eternals, he has superhuman strength, longevity and other such powers. However, he can also control the emotions of others. Over the years, Eros has served on such teams as the Avengers and Dark Guardians.

The plot of Eternals saw the titular beings -- who were created by the Celestials -- reuniting after spending several centuries apart. Set after the events of 2019's Avengers: Endgame, the Eternals come together again to defeat their old enemies, the Deviants, and prevent the Emergence, an event that will destroy humanity.

Eternals, which released in November, earned a solid $399.7 million at the worldwide box office despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However,  the movie didn't fare well with critics. As of writing, Eternals holds a 47 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and is the only film in the MCU to earn the "rotten" distinction on that review aggregator. At this time, it's not known if, or when, the Eternals will return to the MCU.

Directed by Chloé Zhao from a screenplay by herself, Patrick Burleigh, Ryan Firpo and Kaz Firpo, Eternals arrives on Disney+ Jan 12, 2022, with a physical media release to follow on Feb. 15.
