In 2008, Marvel Studios released its first ever film in Iron Man, which was directed by Jon Favreau. At the time, Marvel was far from being the household name that it now is, and the unparalleled success of Favreau's Iron Man would spawn a shared cinematic universe of superheroes that is now one of the most lucrative franchises in history.

After Favreau paved the way for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the director returned for Iron Man 2, while many other directors would join the studio to helm some of the biggest superhero movies of all time. Now, after 10 years of MCU history, the directors of some of Marvel Studios' biggest films reunited today on the set of Jon Favreau's next project, the live-action Disney series, Star Wars: The Mandalorian.

On his Instagram account, Favreau posted a picture from the set of The Mandalorian that shows the prolific director in the company of brothers Joe and Anthony Russo, who directed such smash hits as Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War; Peyton Reed, who directed Ant-Man as well as its sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp; and Taika Waititi, the legend behind Thor: Ragnarok.

The reunion is noteworthy, given that it must be quite hard to get this many busy directors in the same place at the same time. While this might be just a friendly visit between Marvel hall-of-famers, it's sure to spark some conversation about the Russos' upcoming film, the still untitled Avengers 4. With rumors floating around that a trailer for the highly-anticipated film might be just around the corner, this reunion of Marvel's directors could add a bit of fuel to the fire.

It has been a big few days for Favreau. It was only a week ago that the first trailer for his highly-anticipated live-action take on The Lion King released a first trailer, which broke records with its number of views. His Star Wars: The Mandalorian series is set to debut on Disney's premium streaming service, Disney+, sometime in 2019.
