At a 15-minute sneak peek for the upcoming "Doctor Strange" film attended by members of the press including CBR, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige and director Scott Derrickson, Feige took questions about the upcoming "Captain Marvel" movie, confirming one key element of the film -- that it will be an origin story.

"[Black] Panther is not really an origin story, since we saw him already in Civil War," Feige said at the event. "But his standalone certainly introduces you to 99% of his world that you never saw. And Captain Marvel is certainly an origin. It's an origin story from the start."

The news is particularly interesting because some speculated, when Brie Larson was cast this summer ahead of the announcement of the film's directors, that the origin may be explored before the film hits theaters, in "Avengers: Infinity War." However, it seems that will not be the case. As for Carol Danvers' appearance in the "Avengers" sequel, that remains to be confirmed.
