The Farewell writer-director Lulu Wang confirms she has been approached about directing a film for Marvel Studios.

Wang revealed during a directors roundtable hosted by The Hollywood Reporter that she was approached by the studio to direct a movie. When asked about his comments regarding superhero movies, Martin Scorsese was asked to clarify his words. Host Stephen Galloway then asked Scorsese and the other directors if they had been approached to do a Marvel film, at which point Wang raised her hand confirming she had.

"I don't know if I'm supposed to say that," Wang said. She did not say which specific property Marvel wanted her to direct.

Marvel Studios is currently laying the game plan for the next few years of its Marvel Cinematic Universe, so Wang could possibly join the fray. However, she is currently not interested in helming a Marvel property at the moment.

While Wang could potentially make an interesting candidate for making a Marvel film, her refusal to do one means Marvel will have to look elsewhere for potential directorial candidates for their various upcoming projects.
