Throughout the Marvel Universe, there are some pretty powerful artifacts, devices and weapons. Many of these items were created simply to counter the otherwise immortal beings sprinkled throughout the cosmos. The only way Reed Richards could stop someone like Galactus was to pilfer his ship and find the Ultimate Nullifier, but that's not the only weapon in the universe capable of hurting what essentially amounts to a god. Whether they are mystical in nature or technological, the Marvel Universe is packed with an arsenal of god-killing weapons, but when it comes to the Celestials, many writers had to up their game a little bit. Celestials are, without a doubt, the most powerful and misunderstood race of beings in the Marvel Universe and it takes a lot to hurt one.

Not only are Celestials impossibly large, which precludes hurting them with anything conventional, they are covered in special armor. It isn't know if this is meant to contain something or protect them, but it's almost impossible to penetrate. These beings are born from the deaths of whole galaxies so there's not a lot that can cause them much damage. This list compiles the most powerful devices spread throughout the cosmos that either have or theoretically could hurt or kill a Celestial. There is some precedent for many of these examples, but for others, it's all theoretical speculation based on what the devices' capabilities are. Sound off in the comments and let us know which weapon you think would easily defeat a Celestial and let us know of any we might have missed in this list of 20 Marvel Universe weapons that could smite a Celestial.

20 THE EVIL EYE

Evil-Eye-of-Avalon

The Evil Eye of Avalon is a powerful alchemic weapon crafted of an unknown metal. It has the ability to alter matter at the molecular level, disintegrate matter, nullify energy sources and fire off energy blasts or construct force fields. It has been around the Marvel Universe since first appearing in Fantastic Four #54 in 1966.

The device has yet to be used against a Celestial, but has been set upon the likes of Loki. If it was used to its full extent, its ability to disintegrate and alter matter at the molecular level should enable a user to damage a Celestial... that is, of course, if they are composed of matter like everything else in the Universe.

19 THE MANDARIN'S RINGS

Mandarin-Ten-Rings

The Mandarin's Rings were originally the limitless power source for the warp-drive engines housed on the Makluan Starship of Axonn-Karr. They came into the Mandarin's possession and he has used them as his principal weapons ever since. The rings are sentient and able to communicate via a form of telepathy.

On their own, the rings are fairly powerful, but when combined in the right hands (pun definitely intended), they are a formidable weapon. They have never been used against a Celestial, but it is possible that "Remaker," the ring worn on the Mandarin's right thumb could rearrange their matter at the molecular level. That is, of course, if the Mandarin were able to get close enough.

18 ODINSWORD

Odin revealing his odinsword

There have been several weapons in the Marvel Universe to bear the name "Odinsword" over the years. The original Odinsword was a giant weapon that was said to bring about "the end of the universe" were it to even be unsheathed. When he learned of the coming of the Celestials, he armed himself with the Destroyer armor along with the sword.

Not only did he bring the Odinsword and the Destroyer Armor, he enchanted them with all the souls of Asgard. However, it was only ever able to temporarily wound a Celestial. It is possible it could be used to kill one, but during the fight, it was thrust at a Celestial and intercepted. It was then analyzed by the Celestial, Arishem the Judge and melted down.

17 THE ANTIMATTER INJECTION SYSTEM

Antimatter Injection System

The Antimatter Injection System is a weapon consisting of two parts: a triggering device and a bomb. Now, you're probably thinking any sort of conventional weapon wouldn't do anything to a Celestial and you would be right. These are not conventional by any means, though, as their purpose is to destroy planets.

When properly employed, the Antimatter Injection System penetrates to the core of a planet and completely obliterates it. It was first used to destroy a rogue Earth that was about to collide with Earth-1331. Thanos attempted to use it to destroy the Earth, but Lockjaw successfully teleported it to an uninhabited planet causing its destruction. It is not known if it could penetrate a Celestial's armor and detonate within, but it is possible.

16 THE WAND OF WATOOMB

Wand-of-Watoomb

The Wand of Watoomb was won by Doctor Strange in a contest against Cyrus Black. He only received half the Wand, with the other half going to Xandu. After some time, Strange's half made it to Xandu and the Wand was reformed. The Wand of Watoomb is not an offensive weapon and is primarily used for defense.

Its powers allow it to shield against mystical attacks, absorb the effects of said attacks, heal the wielder, and send out concussive blasts when necessary. The power that might help in fighting a Celestial centers on the Wand's ability to open dimensional portals. A user could conceivably open such a portal around the neck of a Celestial and possibly sever it. In truth, that might just make a Celestial a bit angry, but you never know.

15 THE M’KRAAN CRYSTAL

mkraan-crystal

The M'Kraan Crystal is an unimaginably large crystal in the shape and structure of a city. It is a holy relic of the Shi'ar and is considered the Nexus of all Realities across all of time and space. Locking down its true power is somewhat difficult as it is tied directly to the Phoenix Force and has the ability to destroy a single person, a universe, or all of existence.

Like many of the items on this list, the M'Kraan Crystal has not been used to battle a Celestial. If it were used in such a manner, it is conceivable that it would be able to destroy one seeing as it is capable of destroying whole universes. Its abilities to affect time, space and all of reality essentially mean it can destroy all the Celestials across the entirety of time.

14 EXCALIBUR

excalibur-1

Excalibur is the famed sword of King Arthur, but that doesn't mean it can't be found in the Marvel Universe. The sword has been thrust through time to the modern age and back again, so it has crossed paths with a number of characters in the Marvel Universe. It is commonly wielded by Faiza Hussain, who calls herself Excalibur after the weapon.

While it may seem unlikely that a sword could hurt a Celestial, the power of Excalibur suggests it could actually kill one. Excalibur can kill every single entity it comes into contact with, including gods. Were someone to get close enough and stab a Celestial, they would definitely perish, but the blade might need to first penetrate their armor. It's not necessarily guaranteed that it could do that or penetrate deep enough to cause harm.

13 TACTIGON

Originally, the Tactigon was a weapon of extraterrestrial origin before it fell to Earth. It later attached itself to a young teenage girl named Violet Lightner and turned her into the superhero Armory. Its unique abilities suggest it could be used to battle a Celestial; it has even been used to defeat a giant Ultimo robot at one time.

The Tactigon is classified as an Omega-Level Weapon thanks to its ability to adapt itself to counter any threat. It is able to identify any weakness of a target and modify itself into any weapon so that it can be used against anything. It hasn't been pointed at a Celestial, but if it were, it would locate a weakness (should one exist) and modify itself to attack it.

12 MJOLNIR

Mjolnir is the weapon of choice for Thor and is even tied to Thor's own power. It helps him channel his lightning ability and allows him to fly. Throughout the Marvel Universe, Mjolnir is a feared weapon and there's a good reason for it. When wielded by the likes of Thor, very little could stand in its way. It has been used against Celestials in the past and even though it's quite small in comparison, it still packs a punch.

It was first used against the Celestial Exitar in Thor #388 and it harmed him... but it also shattered! The weapon was restored only one issue later, but it proved itself in battle against the giant space god. When it was used, it crashed through the Celestial's armor and penetrated its skull, killing it.

11 GUNGNIR

Gungnir is the name of Odin's spear. Like Mjolnir, it is composed of Uru and is capable of directing immense power. The spear has no inherent power of its own, but rather, acts as a channel for Odin's own power making it a significant weapon in the Marvel Universe. Of course, it cannot properly be wielded by anyone other than Odin and doesn't have a "worthiness" enchantment on it like Mjolnir.

The spear returns to the wielder's hand after being thrown like Mjolnir and is able to penetrate pretty much anything it is thrown at. Like Mjolnir, it could bust through a Celestial's armor and kill one, but it would have to be thrown by Odin in order to accomplish this. It has been used against the Fourth Host of the Celestials when they came to Earth.

10 THE STAFF OF ONE

The Staff of One is a magical weapon that resides within a person's body. It only comes forth when that person is wounded, which is also how it is transferred from one person to another. It has the ability to cast any spell imaginable only once. Any use of the staff to cast a spell it has already used will result in unpredictable magic.

The spells the Staff of One can cast are directly related to the amount of blood "sacrificed" when it is brought forth. The greater the sacrifice, the deadlier the magic. It is not known how the Celestials might fare against a powerful sorcerer, but of the many magical artifacts in the Marvel Universe, the Staff of One is likely one of the few able to do them any real harm.

9 URU ARMOR

Iron Man's armor has always been a formidable weapon, but it is no match for a Celestial. His enchanted armor, on the other hand, is one of the most powerful weapons in the Marvel Universe. Tony Stark's Mark 38 Iron Man Armor, also known as his Bleeding Edge Armor was enhanced by Odin so Stark could battle the God of Fear in the "Fear Itself" storyline.

Stark suited up and plunged himself into molten Uru. the magical metal enshrouded his armor and greatly empowered him such that he was able to battle pretty much anyone. While wearing the special armor, he never engaged a Celestial, but seeing as Mjolnir and other Uru weapons can harm them, it stands to reason a fully-formed suit of armor encased in the metal would be a match for any space god.

8 JARNBJORN

Long before Thor wielded Mjolnir, he carried a large axe named Jarnbjorn. This was during a time in the 11th Century when Thor was not able to lift Mjolnir thanks to its "worthiness" enchantment. He would carry the weapon for centuries until he ultimately lost it. The weapon was later recovered by Kang the Conqueror and eventually made its way back into the Asgardian Armory, only to be picked up by Thor once more when he was again unworthy of wielding Mjolnir.

Thor enchanted his axe with his own blood so that it could pierce the armor of a Celestial and their creations. It was even used to kill the Celestial Exitar after striking him in the neck. Janbjorn is one of the few weapons in the Marvel Universe that has killed a Celestial.

7 ALL BLACK THE NECROSWORD

All-Black The Necrosword was a powerful weapon wielded by Gorr the God Butcher, who got his name thanks to his favorite activity. The weapon not only had the power to slay a god, it was imbued with their power each time it succeeded in doing so. This meant that the weapon continued to increase in power each time it was used.

All-Black The Necrosword used dark magical properties that enhanced its user with superhuman abilities. It has been used against Galactus on a number of occasions and has always worked in defeating him. It has yet to stand against a Celestial, but there is little doubt it could kill one should a wielder take up the task.

6 THE POWER COSMIC

galactus-Power-cosmic

One of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe is Galactus the World Devourer. Galactus is older than the Universe itself, having been born in a Cosmic Egg from the previous universe. He is immensely powerful and able to destroy whole planets with little difficulty. Much of his power derives from the mysterious Power Cosmic.

Through the use of the Power Cosmic, Galactus has demonstrated the ability to create life, take it away, imbue others with its power and be one with the Universe. It is one of the most powerful forces in the Marvel Universe, though it is not well understood. Galactus has battled, killed and even consumed Celestials in the past, so his use of the Power Cosmic clearly demonstrates its ability to defeat them.

5 GODKILLER ARMOR

The aptly-named Godkiller Armor was created by an ancient race called the Aspirants for the sole purpose of eradicating the Celestials. It was stored within a Dyson Sphere for millennia and stands as tall as a Celestial, which is about five miles in height. The armor was not only able to kill a Celestial, it was able to cull most of them during the Celestial War.

The Godkiller Armor can only be piloted by people who have a special genetic match with it. This limits its abilities somewhat, but once someone sits at the helm, there is almost nothing that can stop it... including a Celestial. Ultimately, it was unsuccessful in destroying all of the Celestials thanks to an Aspirant civil war, but it stands as an incredibly powerful weapon.

4 ULTIMATE NULLIFIER

The incredibly powerful ultimate nullifier

The Ultimate Nullifier was first introduced as a deus ex machina that was used to thwart Galactus' efforts to feast on the Earth. It was later revealed to be an aspect of the World Devourer whose power somewhat mirrors his own, but on a much grander scale. As the name implies, it has the ability to ultimately nullify anything in existence.

If it is wielded by a powerful mind, like Galactus, it can be used to destroy anyone or anything anywhere in existence. It can even nullify and recreate entire timelines and multiverses. It is the ultimate weapon and is one of the only devices Galactus fears. It can certainly be used to destroy a Celestial were it used against one.

3 COSMIC CUBE

Not to be confused with the Tesseract in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Cosmic Cube is a powerful artifact capable of controlling matter and energy. It is, in effect, a wish-granting device capable of rewriting all of reality to suit the whims of the person wielding it, and it does so by answering the will of any sentient being who uses it.

The Cosmic Cube has been classified as an Omega Class Weapon comparable to the Tactigon and others on this list. It could easily destroy a Celestial or turn one into an adorable puppy if that's what the person using its reality warping powers wished. It was once wielded by Thanos whose power and determination were expanded exponentially through the Cube making him a true cosmic threat.

2 INFINITY GAUNTLET

As anyone who has seen Avengers: Infinity War can tell you, the Infinity Gauntlet, when empowered with all of the Infinity Gems (or stones in the MCU), is an ultimate Omega-level weapon. When all six gems are affixed to the gauntlet, the person wielding it has complete and total mastery over all of space, time, reality, mind, soul, and power.

Like the Cosmic Cube, the Infinity Gauntlet is a wish-granting device in that anything the person wielding it can be done. Thanos used it to kill half of all life in universe, but when it was wielded by others, time was reversed and his use of it was negated. It can create life, alter it, kill it and do pretty much anything imaginable, including killing a Celestial.

1 THE HEART OF THE UNIVERSE

The Heart of the Universe is the only device in the Marvel Universe that is more powerful than the Infinity Gauntlet. That's saying something, seeing as the Infinity Gauntlet (with all six gems) possesses unlimited power and ability. The Heart of the Universe is said to take on the power of the Supreme Being of the Marvel Universe itself.

The difference between the Heart of the Universe and everything else listed here is that, while those other devices grant power, the Heart of the Universe turns its wielder into power. Whoever possesses it becomes all matter and energy in the universe simultaneously. There is nothing that can stand against something of its power, which certainly includes the Celestials.
