The game will release on mobile devices next year and task players with assembling a team of heroes and villains capable of repelling an alien invasion.

The game’s story will pit players against Ultimus, an Kree Eternal and warlord. Apparently, Ultimus is fixated on Earth, as he has traveled from dimension to dimension, conquering alternate versions of the planet. Now he has arrived on our version of Earth and is looking to keep up his streak. Only S.T.R.I.K.E., Strategic Tactical Reserve for Interdimensional Key Events, a British intelligence agency not dissimilar from S.H.I.E.L.D., is equipped to deal with the threat.

The player will typically command up to five characters at a time, with a full roster of 70 available at launch. The starting roster will include the likes of Luke Cage, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man and Groot, among others. Marvel Strike Force will be free-to-play. The game’s methods of monetization are not known at this time.

Characters can also equip gear that will upgrade over time. Upgrades will unlock new tactical options that might allow heroes to attack multiple enemies at a time, among other things. The game will include both player-versus-NPC content and player-versus-player scenarios. Guilds can be formed and cooperative play with friends has been confirmed, with raids playing a major role in the endgame.
