Marvel is known as the more serious of the Big Two, with its amazing library of stories often taking inspiration from the real world. However, it's still the world of comics, and Marvel can get creative and weird with their stories. Marvel's strangest heroes are a diverse lot, but they aren't alone. Besides boasting some truly unique heroes, Marvel also has its share of strange villains.

There are a lot of things that make these villains weird, with some more obvious than others. Whether it's their bizarre looks, odd powers, or the incongruity of who they are, these villains take the cake when it comes to being strange.

10 Captain America As Hydra Supreme Was Always A Strange Choice For The Character

Hydra Supreme during Secret Empire

Secret Empire isn't fondly remembered for a lot of reasons, including how strange it was for Captain America to not only be a villain but also a member of Hydra. At first, it seemed like the story was trying to say something about the rise of fascism in American politics, but that never changed the fact that Captain America was basically the Red Skull in the story.

Challenging readers' expectations wasn't wrong, but Cap as Hydra Supreme was a concept that lost its way very quickly. Cap had pretty much just become the kind of bad guy he used to fight against.

9 Batroc The Leaper Has Always Been Kind Of Funny

Batroc The Leaper

Captain America has a lot of weird villains, and Batroc the Leaper is one of the best examples of this. On the surface, Batroc is kind of cool as an acrobatic master martial artist who has no problem taking the fight directly to Captain America. However, he's also so stereotypically French, and the exaggeration can come off as ridiculous.

On top of that, his name is also quite questionable. Why does he need "the Leaper" at the end of it? It's a little too on the nose, and it's the comedy cherry on an already pretty hilarious sundae. Ironically, he's a serious threat who is sometimes hard to take seriously.

8 Arnim Zola's Face Is In His Torso

JOLT - Arnim Zola

Arnim Zola has always been really strange, and his look has never made sense. The weirdest part of his character is that his face is on his torso, and it isn't clear why this is the case. It's a bold design choice, but it's definitely far from normal.

He could go with any other design, and yet, he stays with the face torso. His dedication to the unusual design is admirable, though.

7 The Living Monolith Is Basically A Mutant Statue

The Living Monolith Marvel comics

The X-Men have some of the greatest villains in the Marvel Universe, but they can't all make sense. The Living Monolith is one example of that. Formerly an Egyptologist who learned he was a mutant who could use cosmic energy, he first clashed with the X-Men as the "Living Pharoah," a weird name in itself. Later, he would gain the ability to transform into a living statue.

The Living Monolith is a good visual but a weird villain. He lives to absorb cosmic energy and become a walking Egyptian statue. He has a lot of potential, but he hasn't reached it yet.

6 Sugar Man Is Just Weird All Around

Sugar Man Marvel Comics

The Age Of Apocalypse is one of the most well-known X-Men stories of them all. While it didn't introduce many new characters, it did introduce Sugar Man, one of the strangest villains of them all. Sugar Man was basically a giant face with four arms and some legs wearing biker leathers.

His powers were also far from normal with a tongue that could skewer people. And in one instance, he was blown up by a psi-blast from Chamber and survived as a smaller version of himself. On top of that, he would surprise everyone by crossing over into the main Marvel Universe after the story.

5 Mandrill Looks Like The Animal He's Named After And Is Irresistible To Women

Apes are popular in comics, and while Marvel has never leaned into this like DC has, there's a variety of ape-themed villains in the Marvel Universe. However, none of them can compare to the Mandrill. Mandrill is a mutant who is essentially a literal mandrill with superhuman physical abilities. The weirdest part is his pheromone control that makes him irresistible to women.

It's just a weird combination of powers. On the one hand, it makes sense for him to have the strength and speed, but it's very odd that the ape is so attractive to humans.

4 Asbestos Man Contracted Cancer Because Of His Choice Of Weaponry

Asbestos Man is one of the villains who faded from view after the Silver Age for good reason. The character existed to fight Human Torch since he had fireproof armor and weapons made of asbestos. This was before it was known that asbestos was a carcinogen, so he wasn't strange back then.

However, looking at him now, the whole thing has taken an unexpected turn. He's made some appearances in the modern age, and writers have made it known that he now has cancer due to all of that exposure to asbestos.

3 Mole Man Was Marvel's First Supervillain But Wasn't Very Threatening

Fantastic Four #1 by Stan Lee & Jack Kirby brought Marvel into the Silver Age. The FF were the first heroes of Marvel's new era and led to the rest. On this momentous occasion, they fought Mole Man. His whole origin centered around him being unattractive, so he went underground, found the Moloids, became their king, and set out to take revenge on the surface.

The FF have some great villains, and Mole Man is the weirdest one. He's not super smart, he doesn't have any powers, and he's not particularly threatening.

2 Forearm Has The Power Of Two Extra Arms

forearm ready to punch Marvel

Mutants have all kinds of powers, many of which make sense for people who represent the next evolution of humanity. Forearm's powers sort of make sense since four arms are technically better than two. However, he looks rather ridiculous and has a pun for a name. He's called Forearm because "forearm" sounds like "four arm."

While there are all these other awesome mutants who can heal anything, control metal, or control minds, Forearm just has four arms. Nature has a sense of humor, even with the next iteration of humanity.

1 Bi-Beast Has Two Faces

Bi-Beast holding the Hulk

The Hulk does not have the best villains. A lot of them have improved with The Immortal Hulk, but in the end, they're usually just big monsters for the Hulk to punch. Then there's Bi-Beast, a big monster with two faces. Unfortunately, his gimmick is nothing more than his two faces.

He has one face stacked on top of the other, and he's yellow. That's what separates him from other big strong monsters the Hulk fights. He's certainly dangerous, but it's hard to take a villain seriously with his name and appearance.
