10 Cyclops And Magneto Put Aside Years Of Enmity To Become Friends

Cyclops and Magneto

Magneto has been going back and forth on the hero/villain spectrum for a long time but most of those times, the one person who trusted him the least was Cyclops. Cyclops and Magneto had been fighting each other for years; since Cyclops was fifteen, Magneto had been trying to kill him. However, after M-Day, when the mutant race was at its lowest, Magneto would join the X-Men.

At first, the relationship between Cyclops and Magneto was professional but eventually, the two mutants became friends, working well together and looking out for each other, something neither would have predicted in a million years.

9 Doctor Doom And Namor Are Better Friends Than One Would Imagine

Doctor Doom And Namor discuss Norman Osborn's Dark Reign

If there are two people on the planet who seem like they wouldn't be friends, it's Doctor Doom and Namor. The two monarchs are powerful, arrogant men and it's quite difficult for those types of people to mix. On top of that, Doom is known for his villainous acts while Namor has often been on the side of good.

However, both of them show disdain for Reed Richards and have proven able to understand each other quite well. In fact, the two of them are more likely to get along well than Namor and a hero and Doom with a villain.

8 Star-Lord And Gamora's Relationship Is Inexplicable But It Works

Guardians of the Galaxy Nova Star-Lord Gamora

Before the GotG movie, Star-Lord was a more serious character but he was changed to go along with the MCU version. Gamora, though, was always the same - a tough as nails ex-assassin with a heart of gold. The fact that the two of them can work together at all, and as well as they do, is completely surprising.

Peter Quill went from serious space cop to an immature frat boy type and the fact that Gamora puts up with that at all is amazing. In all actuality, she should have gutted him ages ago and for Quill's part, Gamora is exactly the kind of stuffy, intense person that he would enjoy making fun of more than being friends with. Yet, somehow, it works.

7 The Fact That The Hulk Has Any Friends Is A Massive Surprise

The orignal Avengers battling Loki on the cover of Avengers number 1

The Hulk has changed a lot over the years but one thing that hasn't is his proclivity to fight everyone in his way. This can be a huge problem when it comes to being a superhero because team-ups are pretty much the bread and butter of the whole thing. While the heroes have forgiven Hulk after every rampage, the fact that any of them allow him in a room with them is the strangest thing of all.

It's almost guaranteed at some point that the Hulk will snap and attack his "friends". The Hulk doesn't trust the heroes at all and this has caused him to quickly lose patience with them and attack. The fact that they've never figured this out is kind of funny, actually.

6 Somehow, Spider-Man And Deadpool Keep Hanging Out With Each Other

Deadpool and Spider-Man go for a swing

Deadpool loves Spider-Man to an extent that some would say is unhealthy. Spider-Man, on the other hand, would usually rather be anywhere else than with Deadpool. However, over the years, Spider-Man has softened towards the Merc With A Mouth and while he doesn't exactly love Deadpool, they've become friends and work pretty well together.

One of the most ironic parts about their relationship is that Spider-Man understands how annoying he can be to the other heroes because of his time with Deadpool. Even when he's exasperated with Wade, though, at least it's entertaining.

5  Sabretooth And Mystique Have A Surprisingly Good Relationship For Two Untrustworthy Murderers

Sabretooth and Mystique in Marvel Comics

Sabretooth and Mystique don't have much in common and the things they do are pretty much all bad. However, one thing that has always brought them together is a mutual hatred of Wolverine and a desire for wealth. So, the two have worked together many times over the years and it actually works rather well.

This is very surprising, since neither of them are exactly trustworthy - Sabretooth is known for trying to kill everyone he works with and duplicity is Mystique's favorite pass time. However, they've proven to work well together and have developed a grudging friendship. They even have a child together - anti-mutant bigot Graydon Creed.

4 Human Torch And The Thing Are Polar Opposites Yet Are The Best Of Friends

Human Torch and The Thing.

The Fantastic Four are known as the first family of the Marvel Universe and like any family, they squabble. However, the two who fight the most are Human Torch and the Thing. The two heroes are people who would probably never become friends- Johnny Storm is loud and brash and Ben Grimm is a salt of the Earth tough guy; in any other situation, they would hate each other.

While they bicker constantly, the two have developed a close, loving relationship that most people wouldn't believe. They're like brothers and while they may fight amongst themselves, if anyone else tries to hurt one they have to deal with the other. There are few as close as they are, regardless of their differences.

3 Luke Cage And Iron Fist Are From Two Different Worlds But That Doesn't Affect Their Friendship

Modern versions of Luke Cage and Iron Fist

Luke Cage and Iron Fist would have never met if they weren't superheroes. Danny Rand grew up wealthy and Luke Cage came up on the streets of Harlem. However, because of the experiments done to Luke Cage and Danny Rand finding K'un Lun to become Iron Fist, the two would eventually meet and one of the Marvel Universe's greatest friendships would begin.

Luke Cage and Iron Fist's friendship has been through it all. They always have each other's backs and would do anything to help each other. They've blazed a path of friendship that few would have guessed were possible for them.

2 The Fact That Iron Man And Thor Are Friends Is Downright Weird

Thor 8 Iron Man prank war

To begin with, it's just strange that Iron Man has any friends at all. He's betrayed his friends for his own gain on more than one occasion and beyond picking up the Avengers tab is often more trouble than he's worth- and he's worth a lot. It's especially surprising that he and Thor are friends at all - Iron Man once cloned the God of Thunder and the clone killed one of their friends.

Beyond that, it's just weird for a man of science and a literal god to get along so well. They have nothing in common and enough grudges with each other that the fact that they can even be in the same room is a surprise, let alone be friends.

1 Wolverine And Spider-Man Have Overcome Their Dislike Of Each Other To Become Great Friends

Astonishing Spider-Man & Wolverine swing through the city on a stylised Marvel comic cover

Wolverine has teamed up with everyone but one of his most contentious relationships was with Spider-Man. The two heroes just didn't get along and were completely different people, often coming to blows. However, their time together as Avengers and a cross-time jaunt got them close and now the two are the best of friends.

They went from constantly being at each other's throats to being willing to do anything for each other. This one-eighty turn was not something anyone would have thought was going to happen and the two men have worked well together ever since.
