Fans interested in learning more about Han Solo and Princess Leia's relationship before the events in 1980's Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back are in luck. The creative team of writer Greg Pak and artist Phil Noto will explore this Pre-Empire relationship when they take over Marvel Comics' Star Wars.

"We're also getting the chance to play with the Han/Leia relationship before it actually becomes the Han/Leia relationship, which is tremendously fun," Pak told CBR. "We're complicating things with a new character from Leia's past named Dar Champion and an undercover operation that puts Han and Leia in much closer proximity than either of them wants -- or at least admits that they want -- at this stage."

Writers Jason Aaron and Kieron Gillen have penned the adventures of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia and the entire Rebel Alliance in Star Wars, with the action taking place between Episodes 4-5. Now, Pak and Noto will look to move the series even closer to Episode 5, where moviegoers found the Rebels hiding out from the Imperials on a desolate, frozen wasteland. This was a stark contrast to seeing the Rebels secure a victory in the final moments of Star Wars: A New Hope.

Star Wars #68, by Greg Pak and Phil Noto, goes on sale in July from Marvel Comics.
