With the new decade upon us, Fandango is taking a look back at its top-selling films of the last decade, with Marvel and Star Wars coming out as the major winners.According to the ticketing company, the highest-selling films this decade (or Dec. 20, 2019, to be exact) via Fandango ticket sales were Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Avengers: Endgame, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Avengers: Infinity War and Black Panther. RELATED: Marvel Studios President Reveals How Old Man Cap's Storyline Developed

While Lucasfilm and Marvel Studios were major winners, the real victor was Disney, which owns both movie companies.

As noted, these are not the overall highest-grossing films of the decade, but the movies that sold the most tickets via Fandango. As the top movie of all time in terms of box office revenue, Avengers: Endgame takes the crown for the top movie of the decade.

Marvel and Star Wars are already hard at work planning the next decade. On the Lucasfilm side, Kathleen Kennedy is shifting the focus to TV with an Obi-Wan Kenobi series and a Rogue One prequel. Marvel Studios is also expanding into TV with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision and Loki. The studio is also getting ready to release its first Phase 4 film: Black Widow. Following that, Marvel will release The Eternals, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, a Spider-Man sequel and Thor: Love and Thunder.
