The following contains spoilers for Amazing Spider-Man #20, on sale now from Marvel.

Peter Parker says he now loves his ex-girlfriend Mary Jane Watson only as a sister or best friend in Marvel's Amazing Spider-Man #20.

Amazing Spider-Man #20 comes from guest writer Joe Kelly, guest artist Terry Dodson, guest inker Rachel Dodson and letterer VC's Joe Caramagna. In the issue, Peter and Felicia Hardy/Black Cat have found themselves battling a group of tech-bros who refer to themselves as the "Silicon Six" after they try to spend a weekend away from New York City together. Following various misadventures, Peter and Felicia finally get a moment alone together near the end of the issue, at which point Peter comes clean about his feelings.

Marvel Officially Dissolves Spider-Man and Mary Jane's Romantic Relationship

With Mary Jane now involved with another man named Paul, Peter tells Felicia he no longer harbors romantic feelings toward his ex. "Mary Jane has been a part of my life for a long time," Peter says. "More than a part. But she's more like a sister -- a best friend -- I love her. I always have, and part of me always will. But I think that love has changed, you know? Like capital L to lowercase...or the other way around. Whichever makes sense." Satisfied with his explanation, Felicia kisses Peter and the two swing off into the evening.

Whatever Happened to Spider-Man and Mary Jane?

Amazing Spider-Man #1 (by Zeb Wells, John Romita Jr., Scott Hanna, Marcio Menyz and Caramagna) first revealed Mary Jane has a new partner named Paul and is also now connected to two children who refer to her as "mommy." While Peter and Felicia rekindled their romantic relationship in Amazing Spider-Man #6, Marvel will soon begin to reveal what happened between Peter and MJ in Amazing Spider-Man #21.
