If there's one thing that comic books are well known for, it is their giant events that interrupt the flow of other comic book series. These big events can at times be worth the intrusion to a fan's favorite hero's series but other times these events can be a huge waste of time due to poor writing.

Despite poor writing, companies like Marvel many times continue to hype up these events to get as many readers on board as possible. Sadly once an event is guaranteed trash status that hype looks even worse. This list will be looking at these sins of Marvel comics with some of their worse events that they still hyped up.

10 CIVIL WAR

The Marvel comics Civil War series is one that absolutely did not need to see the light of day. The conflict between these hundreds of heroes is one that didn't make much sense, to begin with, due to one side obviously being bad  taking away from a lot of the experience. It's also a series that made Tony Stark into a completely unlikable character due to his selfishness and short-sightedness.

9 ONE MORE DAY

One More Day, featuring Peter Parker, Mary Jane Watson Parker, Spider-Man, and Mephisto from Marvel Comics

The event made to reverse all of the effects Civil War did to Spider-Man was Spider-Man: One More Day. While this event did fans a huge favor by getting all of the garbage of the last big event out of the Marvel canon, it ironically was just as horrible of an event. This poor quality was probably due to its connection to the Civil War.

This story is around Spider-Man after the war and the death of Aunt May and endangerment of those around him due to his trust in Iron Man making him unmask himself to everyone. He makes a deal with Mephisto to lose Mary Jane and reverse all of the event.

8 CIVIL WAR II

Fans thought that the Civil War was long behind them for a good few years. No more unnecessary squabbling between their favorite caped crusaders and everyone could continue following their favorite series without poor writing affecting the pages. Well, the Civil War II changed all of that.

This new Civil War went right back to what made the first so bad by giving readers dumb reasonings for the arguing. It also presented them with a new short-sighted hero to hate, Captain Marvel, AKA: Carol Danvers.

7 AGE OF ULTRON

The Marvel event, Age of Ultron is another series about Ultron waging war on the heroes of the Marvel universe. This series was a large scale event that put the weight of the world in the balance once again with Ultron searching perfection and global domination by wiping out humanity, the usual retreading with him.

Age of Ultron just felt like an afterthought and a great waste of time. It feels like nothing really happened this whole event and it was just thrown in just to be thrown in.

6 INHUMANS VS X-MEN

The Inhumans vs X-Men is an event, of course, starring the super alien Inhumans and the mutants of Earth, the X-Men. The battle waged during this series was due to a substance called Terrigen Mist that may as well be called, "plot device made to put these two teams against each other." This mist was needed by the Inhumans to survive but it was deadly to the X-Men.

The premise is enough to make one realize just how dumb this event was. Not to mention it's yet another battle event that wouldn't happen if people knew how to talk.

5 AVENGERS VS X-MEN

Avengers vs X-Men

Marvel's favorite mutant team apparently has a horrible track record when it comes to big "VS" crossover events. It's also another event that could have been avoided if the two sides would just sit down together and talk like actual characters. Much like the Inhumans vs X-Men it's full of plot devices meant to get the two heroic sides to fight.

It's also one of those events simply made to lead up to some new comic series so think of it as a glorified commercial for something that hasn't released just yet.

4 AXIS

How can anyone forget the completely out of wack event Axis? Easy! Because Axis ended up one of the most predictably boring events in a good long time. This series was made to switch everything up when it came to the Marvel Universe, and it did but not with the results that they wanted.

In this universe the good became bad and the bad became good. Due to this, however, many characters ended up being the same as the last.

3 SECRET EMPIRE

The Secret Empire is one of those Marvel events that completely fell flat despite a huge piece of reading bait that put the comic book world ablaze once it was thrown onto every type of social media. The infamous reveal of Captain America being an agent of Hydra is the panel that's being referred to.

Of course this Cap just so happened to be a fake Cap that was eventually defeated by the real Cap. Leaving this event to be completely pointless.

2 THE CROSSING

Marvel's special event The Crossing was an event so monumental that it changed the Avengers forever. The most affected character in this event? Marvel's own playboy superhero Tony Stark/Iron Man. In fact, this series changed him so much that fans ended up hating him more than ever and he was rebooted.

The Crossing is a series that should be avoided at all costs and was a mess that Marvel desperately tried to reverse immediately. It's surprising that an omnibus was still released.

1 ULTIMATUM

Ultimatum was originally supposed to be the end of Marvel's Ultimate universe and line of comics. It is easily one of the most universally hated and made fun of comic book events of all time and for a good reason.

Ultimatum is the edgiest event ever as it's literally just a gorefest of tons of heroes and villains dying in the most disturbing and dumb ways possible. It really just comes off as a complete nightmare of a comic and as some edgy kid's dream. Much like other big events, Ultimatum was completely retconned and is completely ignored whenever the Ultimate series is referenced nowadays.
