DC's John Constantine is a renowned sorcerer and occult detective who often walks the line between good and evil, though he would simply say he is willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. After a less than reputable childhood as a punk rocker and delinquent, he came across Nick Necro and his Girlfriend Zatanna. The three naturally engaged in a less than function relationship.
Though he has often wielded immense power, Constantine's most reputable gift is his quick wit and cunning tactics. He has continually outsmarted opponents significantly more powerful than him, though more often than not, this ends just as severely than the original outcome. But should he face off against Marvel's biggest magic users, who would he triumph against?
10 Beat- Sister Grimm
Nico Minoru is particularly potent in her brand of blood magic, activated upon blood being shed from her own body. The Staff of one, where is draws her power from, is an ancient artifact that she uses to best whatever threat crosses her and the runaways.
Though Nico is proficient in her abilities, they have only one weakness. She can only use a spell once, which was proven when she uttered 'freeze' twice, only to conjure a flock of pelicans against Stacey Yorkes. Constantine would use this to his advantage, and his years of study would ultimately best the newbie witch. That isn't to say that she couldn't give the Justice League Dark member a good fight.
9 Be Beaten- Brother Voodoo
Haitian-born Jericho Drumm has wielded immense arcana as Brother Voodoo, so naturally, he was selected as the next sorcerer supreme. Though he only practices Voodoo, he is incredibly skilled with it. He can use his brother's spirit to possess individuals, increase his own strength, and even gain the aid of a Haitian god known as Loa's.
Though Constantine has had experience dealing with all manners of the mystic arts, Brother Voodoo's unique abilities would make him too difficult a combatant. Drumm successfully destroyed Agamatto in his own realm, so this is certainly a fight Constantine would have trouble talking himself out of.
8 Beat- Wiccan
Wiccan has an incredible amount of raw power, so much so that he takes after his mother's reality-warping. As the son of Scarlet Witch, Wiccan will eventually become the omnipotent Demiurge, though his abilities are nowhere near that level yet. Though he will eventually be able to tackle any threat he faces, his maturity in dealing with more significant threats has not yet been tapped into.
Constantine's only worry would be if Wiccan lost control, which has proven to end badly for all parties involved. Constantine has successfully dealt with nexus-like beings in the past, even summoning Trigon himself to help battle Superman. Unfortunately for Wiccan, he might need to call mommy for some assistance with this battle.
7 Be Beaten- Dr. Strange
Dr. Strange needs no introduction; as the sorcerer supreme, he is continuously at odds with Dormammu, Baron Mordo, and even the Devil himself. He is so powerful that he even invoked godlike power to go against a rage-induced Hulk. As a member of the Illuminati, he has access to the biggest resources on the planet, not to mention the combined might of his friends.
Despite Constantine's incredible fortitude, he simply wouldn't be able to keep up with the onslaught of spells that Strange can produce. Having studied under the most powerful mystics in the Marvel universe, there are very few enemies that strange could not overcome. Constantine's arrogance would stop him from asking for help, and in this case, it would be his undoing.
6 Beat- Magik
Magik is a fearsome sorceress, leader of Limbo, and current general of the Krakoan mutant forces. Her signature soulsword can tear a person from reality, but she is also well versed in more generic forms of sorcery. She has summoned a hydra, formed protective shields, and successfully pulled of convincing glamours.
Though Magik has more raw power at her disposal, John will have accounted for this. As long as he keeps her from Limbo, he can at least keep the battle contained in the natural world. Through careful planning and well-placed traps, Magik could be dethroned as Limbo's sovereign. Constantine has tricked God himself into curing his cancer, so there is no doubt that he could outmaneuver a mutant with a devilish side.
5 Be Beaten- Scarlet Witch
As the Nexus of chaos magic, Scarlet Witch repeatedly proves that she is not to be messed with. She wiped out the mutant population with three words, went head-on against the Phoenix Force, and pulled off a spell that inverted countless people's moral compasses.
Constantine may have dealt with Nick Necro and The Demons Three, but he is sorely outmatched by his sorceress. She could simply wipe him from reality like a stain on her cloak, not to mention she can throw a mean right hook. There is denying she would triumph, the only question is whether Constantine would be meeting his maker sooner than expected.
4 Beat- Enchantress
Amora the Enchantress is a skilled sorceress from Asgard. She rivals Karnilla and Loki when it comes to knowledge, but is somehow considered less of a threat than most of her race. Though her magic is inherently powerful, her true talents lie in enchanting men to fall in love with her, as proven when she spelled an Ice Giant while bound.
Should the battle happen anywhere but Asgard then Constantine would have a significant edge against Amora. However, it if were to occur in her realm, he may be more pushed to find an edge against her. Ultimately, his smart mouth would be his greatest weapon here, its about time Enchantress got a taste of her own magic. After all, Constantine's blonde locks and cheeky smile are hard to resist.
3 Be Beaten- Doctor Doom
The ruler of Latveria is perhaps one of the most well-rounded villains in the Marvel universe. He is a king, incredible intellect, master sorcerer, and world-renowned supervillain. He has cast fantastic spells, trained under Morgan le fey, and even traveled through time to increase his own power.
Though Constantine has dealt with his fair share of megalomaniacs, Doom is practically godlike in his pursuit of power. Not to mention, his technology and fighting style would have Constantine day drinking sooner than expected. Though democracy always wins, this Dictator tends to get his own way.
2 Beat- Captain Britain
Though few heroes have taken up the mantle as Captain Britain, Brian Braddock is easily the most well known, and the most successful in the role. His powers and narrative have been reimagined a few times, but now it has been confirmed that his abilities result from magic.
Though Captain Britain is a force, his abilities just aren't potent enough to trump a man who has gone up against Swamp Thing. If Betsy were the one to wield the title, then Constantine may have a significantly harder fight on his hands. Brian is simply not resilient enough, as proven when he came under the control of Morgan Le Fey.
1 Be Beaten- Morgan Le Fey
She has been killed multiple times, and yet, this immortal sorceress won't stay down for long. She raised Atlantis from the sunken depths and has risen entire armies of the undead to combat her enemies. Morgan Le Fey is not a woman to be trifled with, as seen when she ventured through time to kill Doom after he betrayed her.
If Constantine attempted to use that silver tongue, he might find it promptly ripped from his mouth. Having trained under Merlin himself, Morgan will have access to spells and arcana that Constantine has only dreamed of. If the woman your fighting has traveled through time, there really is nowhere to run. RIP John Constantine.
