Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso has called the upcoming "Secret Wars" by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribic as "unprecedented in its scope" -- and to help back up that claim, the publisher has enlisted "Marvels" and "Kingdom Come" painter Alex Ross for covers.

When "Secret Wars" was announced last month during New York Comic Con, the eight-issue event series was promoted with a multi-character teaser by the artist. On Monday, Marvel revealed Ross's cover to "Secret Wars" #1, first seen in the "Battleworld Revealed!" video that hinted at how the slew of event-based teasers fit into the story's landscape -- the first time the image has been seen isolated from that clip.
