Given the amount of destruction he caused in 2008's The Incredible Hulk, it's hard to imagine the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Emil Blonsky/Abomination (Tim Roth) being cheered and high-fived by a group of civilians. However, that's exactly what happens in a new promo for Marvel Studios' She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

In the promo, a clothed Abomination is seen walking through a crowd of his fans, who are clapping, asking for high-fives and snapping pictures. The video then cuts to an incarcerated, de-hulkified Emil Blonsky, who strikes a meditative pose and greets Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) with a "Namaste."

Specific plot details for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law are being kept under wraps, so it's currently unclear how exactly Emil was able to rehabilitate his image and shift public perception of Abomination -- or, perhaps more importantly, what type of people are willing to give the villain a second chance. Notably, during Abomination's public appearance, a peculiar symbol can be seen on a poster, as well as on the t-shirt of an attendee. At this stage, though, it's unclear what exactly this symbol represents.

At any rate, the official trailer for She-Hulk that dropped at San Diego Comic-Con 2022 revealed that the series would see lawyer Jen Walters/She-Hulk represent Emil Blonsky as part of a high-profile case. Shulkie's firm also seems unbothered by the obvious conflict of interest created by the fact that Emil tried to kill Jen's cousin, Bruce Banner/Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), several years prior.

Abomination Returns to the Spotlight in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law

Roth first portrayed Emil Blonsky in the 2008 Marvel Studios/Universal Pictures film The Incredible Hulk, the second-ever entry in the MCU. A Russian-born British Royal Marine and member of United States General Thaddeus Ross' (William Hurt) Hulkbuster Unit, Blonsky agreed to be injected with a variant of the super soldier serum, granting him superhuman strength, speed and agility. The power-hungry Blonsky later forced Dr. Samuel Sterns (Tim Blake Nelson) to inject him with the irradiated blood of Bruce Banner (then played by Edward Norton) as well, turning Blonsky into what Sterns calls an "abomination."

Hulk ultimately defeated the Abomination, though the latter's true fate was left up in the air for over a decade. Abomination finally resurfaced in Marvel Studios' 2021 film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, sporting a more comics-accurate look. In the film, Abomination competed in an underground tournament cage fight against Sorcerer Supreme Wong (Benedict Wong), who appears to have prior history with the villain, even addressing him as "Emil."

On that note, Emil Blonsky won't be the only established MCU character to appear in She-Hulk, with the new promo also highlighting the likes of Bruce Banner/Hulk, Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and the aforementioned Wong, not to mention newcomers like Frog-Man and someone named Madisynn. That said, Jen Walters herself is sure to address the audience, saying, "Just remember whose show this actually is."
